Just curious Sam--why would you want to use the "buck" unit if just for charging stuff?

Well, the phones expect 5v typically. Some won’t charge with 12v. It may even be harmful to the phone if it does work. I just know my charger at home supplies 5v DC @ either 2, or 4-5 amps, so try to match that in the vehicle.

Tony's specs are 12v in, so it's regulating down to 5v internally.
