Getting ready to replace my alternator, since I had it tested, and it’s on the way out. So when I do, I figured I might as well do the serpentine, idler, tensioner, ac belt and tensioner as well.

I have my OEM 145A alternator: (scratch that.. Summit sent me an AC Delco “Professional”, when I wanted an OEM.. frustrated. Anyone have the correct part number for the 145A OEM alternator?

I also found these, which are hopefully OEM: (except the Gates belt)

Alternator: 19244751 ? (reman)
AC tensioner: 12580196 ($38)
Main tensioner: 12609719 ($50)
Main Idler: 12669569 ($36)
Serpentine: K060930HD (Gates)
AC Belt: 19163445 (K040378HD) (Delco)

Got the Recirc. door actuator replaced. PITA. Still need to put dash back together in the morning, but everythings working. Didn’t end up needing to cut duct. Removed dash cover and airbag along with Onstar box. See 2nd pic with 2x4 raising duct just enough to get hand in there. Barely.
I should have ordered another and done that one when I did the passenger temp one last fall. It was right there.

Changed my oil! Isn’t that exciting?

Couldn’t get it to climb the ramps (would get about halfway up then spit the ramps out even in 4x4) so I had to jack it up and put it on stands to get under it… I think the garage floor is just too smooth to keep the ramps in place… I miss my 84 Sierra 4x4. I swapped the transmission on that one without jacking it up…

I have this problem, but using 4 Hi works for me.

Long read, sorry..

It's been one of those days. Got up early this morning, little man needs a haircut.. Hop in the Esky, battery is dead.. wtf?

Get it jump started, head to my local parts warehouse, have the system tested, battery is low but good, alternator had a dead diode short.

Buy a new alternator, go home install it in 17 mins (LS for the win!)

Go about my day, lunch at Panera, little man haircut, decided to go carpet shopping, came home.

Around 7pm wife says that it's too late to get anything made up for dinner, and asked me to head to Chick-fil-A or Popeyes for dinner.

Made it a block down the road, warning chime goes off, look down at the DIC, CHARGING SYSTEM FAILURE.

Came home, told the wife she needs to run to get dinner so I can head to the parts warehouse, and get it checked out.

Battery tests good, it doesn't even read the alternator. No more are in stock, but will be in tomorrow.

Came home, pulled off the old alternator. Did all this before the wife even got home with dinner!

Hate changing parts twice thou.

I had that happen once. I MacGyvered it by putting a 2x4 against each one braced against the back of the garage wall to stop them from walking.
