Yep PITA. I pulled my airbag and ended up using fishing line and a lot of firm pressure to get that harness and button matched up.

Nice work.

I tried the fishing line trick first, but I just couldn't get it lined up. That's when I went to the needle nose. Repeated grabs are what did the damage. On the next one I got a good grab, gritted my teeth, and PULLED. Lined it up and, 'click ' good to go.

Can't you pull the steering wheel to get to them easy like I did on my 02?

Exactly my thoughts. Just yank the wheel off. It comes off in 2 mins and then you can work the harness without the rear shroud on it and its cake! Anybody nervous about the air bag, don't be, just push a pick into the holes and it releases really easy, set it aside and your done with it, til you wanna re-install it, then just click it in like your honking the horn. I've had mine off a few time now and have a different wheel too.

Just make sure to disconnect the battery first so there's no surprises lol. I borrowed the puller from my local auto parts.

When I do mine I plan to just drill a hole on the back side , push it in from the rear. Then find universal colormatched plugs and pop them in. Nobody would even notice

Yes you guys are correct with the battery disconnect and the steering wheel removal. I just did not take that step in the process and it probably would helped a bit more.

Hmmm...

This is essentially what I ended up doing, only you don't need to drill. Once the bag is off, you can get a little screwdriver in from the back by coming through the same slot as the wiring.
