I had a samle of meguiars cleaner wax. I thought it was just a paint cleaner, but to my surprise it left the paint smooth and soft. not to mention after 2 weeks with no wash we got some rain and the paint looked liked i just washed it the next day!! good stuff

For the price I don't think you can beat Meguiar's cleaner wax.

Carefully with cleaner waxes. Can make the situation way worse over time.

Good deal Jonah! Hopefully they knock it out of the park for you.

Just a word to the wise on having paint correction done, don't just look for the cheapest guy. Its cheaper to pay a little more the first time for quality work then it is to pay someone to fix the cheaper guys hack job. Just remember that when looking around for someone.

@65stang That's what I did. Spent $100 more to have someone I've dealt with before and is more credible. He said the swirls are pretty bad, but 90-95% of the rap should come out. He said wet sanding would be the only way to fix the very deep dings and scratches. He does like a 3-5 step process and has a guy that specializes in black cars. I thought about sealant verses wax, but he said since I'm so on top of cleaning and waxing that the sealant isn't worth the extra money. I am crazy with washing and waving. Just needed to get it up to par!

I did Google your shop but you're too far away :( lol

lol, yeah that is a long drive as I have made it before. I would highly recommend that you have a coating installed on it. While wax and sealant make a vehicle look nice, the add little to no scratch resistance to finish. I do a lot of coating work, and will very rarely do paint correction work on a vehicle without having a coating installed. Just something to think about in the future. How long have you owned the vehicle?

What's a good affordable coating? Does that go on before wax or sealant or after?

I've had it like 4-5 months so far. The paint has been wrecked since before I had it. I've kept up on all my other vehicles but this has been the worst.

A coating would go on in place of a wax or sealant. There are many benefits to a coating over a wax or sealant. Where a wax or sealant would give you 3-9 months of protection, you can see 2+ years of protection from a coating. Also coated vehicles are just so much easier to maintain, as very little sticks to them.

As for a coating that may be easy for you to apply yourself, you could give Optimum Gloss-Coat a try. I have not personally used this but a friend of mine has used and said it is one of the easiest to apply. Here is his review and blog post on the product.
