What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I scrubbed the old truck. Then clay bar and added another ceramic coat. Yes they only last about 6 months. Don’t let anyone lie to you. There’s isn’t one that will ever last a year let alone 6 years, when you actually drive them. Ceramic coat is super easy to use and protects very well. I would definitely never go back to wax. Ever. Anywho….pics.

looks nice.. what brand did you use? I've done the garage queen c6 but not the yukon. that poor thing looks like it was washed with sand paper by the last owners. and it's black.. ugh. I don't think there's enough clear left to even polish. plus the rock chips. ugh.

I have heard some are better than others.. the avalon I used is super easy to use, but I don't feel it was very good. that obsessed garage guy pushes crystal cerm light all the time. I thought about trying it.

They’re all the same to me. Just as long as it has Sio2 in the same percentage as the rest it will all be the same. It’s not rocket science. I liked chemical guys Hydrocharge the best and it’s pretty inexpensive for how much you get. It was super easy to put on and seems to flash easier. I’ve used some expensive stuff like crystal serum light but it all creates the same effect.

At some point these fools paying 3-4k for a ceramic coat might have a wake up call. Lol

give your Yukon a good clay bar and just ceramic coat it. It will still look 10 times better, even with the scratches.

interesting. and you just clay and reapply every 6 months, or you gotta polish again after clay?

No Polish. That’s what the ceramic coat is for. It’s a sacrificial layer. It does a good job of keeping most scratches away. Just a clay and coat. I actually use a clay mitt now.

I wasn't sure if you had to polished off any old coat left to get a nice surface to recoat. or if just a clay was enough.

I polished mine as best I could before the first coat, I did leave a spot or 2 I was concerned was to deep in the clear, so left it. the coating acts like a magnifying glass and you see the spots better than before haha. but it's worth it overall.

Auxillary transmission cooler:

Approx cost for parts and labor to have this installed on my 2007 Yukon.

My cross country tow is coming up and I am getting antsy and wandering if this add on is needed onto my 2007 Yukon?

Here is the tow sheet stats for my VIN rig:

I have installed a Tekonsha brake controller and an Equalizer WDH to assist.

20 foot tandem axle 2021 cargo trailer - dual 3500lb axels exc condition trlr.
empty trailer weight is 3000lbs - will load approx 4000lbs into it.

just 1 person ( me ) in tow vehicle.

If I stop multiple times to allow xmission to cool down can I skip the auxillary cooler?

I have to go over both cascade mtn pass and Rocky mtns 2500 mi tow.

I can take my time and just drive 8 hours a day or less if it helps my tow rig

My coolant temp occasionally goes to 199 degrees, used to stay at 192-194..
Temp comes down within a minute or two after hitting 199. I am thinking this could be one or both things..

1. new thermostat is sticky, it's a new stock GM one..
2. head gasket leak near temp sender (still smelling coolant, think the hissing sound I heard was the AC pressue equalizing, had an ear infection that blew out my timpanic membrane so I'm listening with one ear)

Certainly smell coolant from the exhaust, and the exhaust pipe which was always pure black, seems to have a crusty tan layer on the edge.

Have noticed a little bit of coolant loss in about 150-200 miles of driving.. (was middle of line, now it's a hair under)

Thinking about taking a nearly 2000 mile roadtrip.. Thinking I better do a headgasket first..
Any recommendations on headgasket (will stick with stock GM unless there is a better one) and other necessary procedures? (skimming head?)
So far I'm planning on new lifter guides, headbolts, intake/exhaust gaskets. Check tightness on vlom.. Just want to do the basics to get this sealed up and running as quickly as possible..

That’s only because YOU know where the spot is. Lol

Also been wondering if the factory cooler/lines are worth getting or just mod what's already there and go aftermarket.
I kind of like having the quick disconnect on those lines vs. hose clamps.
