I have a Harbor Freight knock-off mag-lite, right next to my seat. Then on the other side I have a Walmart survival machete, with a big-ass Tanto edge, cable-cutter hook, and a sawblade, because again, you never know. (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Camillus-Carnivore-X-18-Machete-Black-Handle/189347215) Couple jackets and a sleeping bag and travel pillow under the back seat allow me to sleep anywhere. And a couple other tools, jumper cables, and a crowbar in a bag in the back.

Story time!

What one thing are you so glad you had in your truck that totally saved your a$$ and why?
Be it while 4-wheeling, Road-tripping, or daily commute. What one thing will you always keep in your truck after that experience? Doesn't need to be life-saving or dramatic, maybe it was a random granola bar stopping your transition from Hangry to "I'm gonna die" hunger. Or maybe it was a previously forgotten stuffed animal that was found in the 12th hour of your cross-country trip and entertained your children a bit longer. I don't care... Just throw it out there!

A WINCH. I've had a winch on every 4x4 I've ever owned, and they literally saved my life plenty of times. When you're stuck in the middle of nowhere, you need to get out and the winch is your friend. Once on a Mexico beach, this poor soul was stuck at the water line and the tide was coming in. He had a new Range Rover and felt it was impervious to getting stuck, he learned otherwise.

After I pulled out the three other guys that were buried trying to pull him out and as the water was lapping his fender and about to get into his doors I hooked up to him three separate times at 100ft per pull.

That moron never even said thanks.

What kind of Tow/Recovery strap do you have? I've been wanting to add one of those to my "Essentials" kit, but I've been hesitant about which one to buy. I don't want to inadvertently end of with a crappy one, because when the situation arises that you need that strap... You really effin need that strap...

Yeah, I do have a tow strap as well. I forgot about that. But I picked up a cheap one from Harbor Freight for under $15. I got one last year after my fuel pump died and I had to tow my truck back home. My truck luckily died right up the street from my house, so I only had to tow it up the block. But after fighting with it that day, towing my truck with a ratchet strap, I bought a tow strap after that and it's been in my truck ever since. I keep it wrapped up and stuffed down in that side panel with my jack and breaker bar. I also keep a hand towel and some Fast Orange hand cleaner down in there. Oh, and two other things I forgot that are ALWAYS in my truck. A tire pressure gauge, and a roll of toilet paper.
