Where is the leak? Oil Pressure Sending Unit Replacement

What part did you guys get I got mine yesterday from Autozone and the sensor they gave me has one pin and mine has 3 and although plug is the same it doesn't go in the new sensor. I went back and checked with the old part number that's on the original sensor and it brings up the same sensor they gave me. Could it be delco only?

WELL CRAP that wasn't my leak. New one put in, still leaking. No i don't know if maybe i didn't tighten it enough (just snugged it with the ratchet) or what else is leaking? Clean all the oil off from up under the truck and its back after a short drive, seems to be more on the starter bolts and then leaking down, can't tell above that. before it was there and coated the oil filter etc on the other side, i'm sure thatll be coated again soon.

I cleaned the top of mine off lastnight and under to see what happens I took the sensor out lastnight cleaned that and cleaned the residue going to take it for a drive and see what happens. When I was taking it out lastnight it wasn't that tight.

Found the torq specs for this little buger

• Tighten the fitting to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

• Increase torque until the centerline of the fitting (1) is 50 degrees from the centerline of the crankshaft (2).

@schloe should I do valve cover gaskets next? Any chance this leak is something like the main seal?

From this picture i would not think the rear-main is the source of the oil in this pic. The oil is coming from up behind the head. Clean the uppermost part of the leak with brake cleaner or carb spray and get it nice and dry. Then use an inspection mirror on that side after you start it up and see if you can tell where it is coming from. If it wasn't the oil sending unit then yes, the next probable location would be the valve cover gasket. I'd use the mirror and check first though.

Id put a socket and ratchet on those rear bolts holding that valve cover down to see if they are loose. I bet they are if it's leaking that much oil.

If they are you may get by just snugging them up but you will need new gaskets to fix it properly.

Haven't got a chance to tighten the valve covers yet. Read several posts claiming Crank Position Sensor leaking is also a common problem, but I can't find anything about that on this forum at all. If that were the case, wouldn't it ONLY be on the starter side, not like my pics? Several people also say it could be oil cooler lines or some block off plate ?

Looks like we have the same leak. Changed out the valve cover gaskets and it was good for a few days. I may have to try and get this done soon I ruined my driveway with these little spots. Hopefully this is the answer to my problem and I'll be able to get my driveway sealed afterwards.

Did this stop your leak?

couple more pics. Valve cover bolts seemed plenty tight. it sure looks like they are dry to me (everywhere i can see). the only wet thing on top i see is actually around the filler neck, it looks like its not really in there very well haha.

here's some pics, as good as i could take, the valve covers look nice and dry? btw, anyone else have problems uploading pics from phone? i always have to resize them down on my computer now since the site changed.
