So, not the install that created the leak, is poor quality pump. What brand is it so others here know to STAY AWAY from that brand. Who knows, the noise may go away with a quality pump install. I will say this as well. Sometimes you just get a bad new part, even if is Genuine GM pump or AC Delco, but the odds are always in their favor.

As always, AC Delco OE (Pro... Not Gold, if possible) is first choice. For me, since it is reported to be an easy install, I would probably save myself $50 and go with a Gates. $98 with thermostat and t-stat housing. Not Ac Delco, but I have never been disappointed with Gates and I have never had to replace one I installed before the vehicle was done for good.

Concur. The water pump on my brand new 2002 Tahoe lasted nearly 220k miles before it started weeping. Based on that, I replaced it with the same ac delco part. I have 175k on this one. When I finish my 6.0 build I will be replacing it with another ac delco as a preventative measure. As stated if you want to save a little money I too have heard Gates is a good solution.

It was an online purchase. I don't recall brand.

On my 2003 Tahoe I had a whistling sound at certain rpm's in cold weather from the AC compressor belt tensioner pulley 9 months after replacing it. I didn't suspect it at first since it was OEM and so new. I also seemed to have been getting some whistling from the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line since when I pulled the boot off the regulator it stopped. The vacuum boot at the intake manifold was cracked along with the rubber connector near there for the pcv line.
