I love seeing this thread. Great to see these rigs running strong still with some of these high miles. Gives me confidence knowing how long these can last if taken care of correctly.
Not a Tahoe or Yukon but I have a 1992 Bonneville SE with 945,529 and still going strong. Flushed the Radiator and put a new Thermostat and runs great. Its starts right up in -30 weather but with a little help with a plug heater. But I would get under $500 for it so Ill keep it till she dies, I bought it in 1993 with 189,090 miles on it. Replaced 3 Water pumps, 2 alternators and the obvious plugs, wires, serpentine (4) and break pads 2 times but it used zero oil and runs strong. Who ever designed the 3800 is a genius. I replaced everything on my own. SO total repair cost never reached over $800. For 20 years of 22MPG you cant go wrong.
My 03 Tahoe has 190xxx, I just bought I with good faith and experience of my prior GMC Yukon (193xxx) that was totaled only because insurance claimed repair was worth over value. If I had the money I would of fixed her. Right now she's running high RPMs before 2nd but I will change the 1-2 servo and hope that's it.
I have 185k on my 2000 Yukon SLT 5.3. Got it from a buy here pay here so I didn't really know what to expect.
Thousands of miles later I trust it to take me anywhere. Everything works beautifully on the truck (minus the fuel gauge) and it's still in phenomenal shape exterior/interior wise. Burns about a half quart of oil every 3k miles which is great.
