get a SLT by the time you put your mods on to look like a denali or escalade its going to run you more $$ and you only saving less than $10 on each fill up. Denali all the way!

As per the listed city mpgs, you'll get 75 more miles out of a 25 gallon tank of gas from the 5.3 compared to the 6.2 ... at around $4 a gallon that's about $19 more.

And I fill up at least once a week, sometimes 3 times in 2 weeks. That's a savings of around $100 a month.

Also as I stated earlier...

Overall, I spent about $10,000 less on a SLT over a Denali and swapped out all the luxury stuff like grilles running boards, wood, shifter, etc. for less than $2,500 and I still get good gas mileage.

So $10,000 saved right away and $100 a month saved by not having the 6.2 and cooled seats.

Nathan I'm not sure how exactly you get your $100/month figure.

On an average 12000 mile year the difference between 15 and 12mpg is 200 gallons more ... at $4 per gallon that's $800 more a year on the Denali, and that's if it is all city driving.

Now go fixer your bumper mr cheapskate. :)

Hey, it came that way. Just waiting on a decent deal to get it. The paint is really tired of seeing me...

should've got Prius if you wanted to save on gas:emotions122:

It's not the gas. It's something I don't need. I don't need the 6.2 motor when the 5.3 is fine. So get the luxuries of the Denali with the motor of a Yukon. It's the same reason people get the Hybrid, it's the same SUV that's a little better in gas.

In city driving my wife might fill up her Denali twice in a month, so you are looking at around $400 a year. On the highway we have seen anything from 16-20mpg (XL Denali AWD) cruising at 70-80 (mostly 80 out west). 16 mpg is into a strong 40 mph or more headwind crossing Wyoming, enough wind to slow down the big trucks to around 65-70 which is saying something on I80 in Wyoming.

Technically someone can say buy an Acadia, Transverse or some other SUV that gets better gas mileage than any Yukon if you want to save more gas. A 4 banger Equinox will get you around 30mpg on the highway so it is saving you around 1/3rd the gas of a Yukon. I know people will say they wouldn't buy that vehicle but getting a big vehicle means it will cost you more. With the Denali you have around 80ish more HP and torque, AWD, heated steering wheel, etc. You have to decide if those options are worth it to you. For my wife who has Raynard's Syndrome a heated steering wheel is a must since it affects the blood circulation in her fingers when they are cold (below 60 or so).

I guess if we were all worried about gas we wouldn't own any of these vehicles as there are probably more fuel efficient vehicles for our actual needs.
