With taller tires you are also going to want taller (numerically) gears. Otherwise you are losing mechanical advantage. It's great for highway gas mileage, but not so great for quick acceleration. There's an article in my signature with a chart.

Just getting back to this Nick, thank you sir! I will ask for some specifics. Was just talking to my neighbor (ex-mechanic now engineer), he thinks the Billet torque converter is over doing my stock engine and for the amount of towing I do. I tow my bass boat once a week 30 to 100 miles. Its maybe 3500lbs. The Tahoe is currently a little sluggish while towing the boat and would like some pep. Thoughts? Thanks again.

$2800 is for a complete overhaul, torque converter plus $1200 r/r so 4$k...not bad if so..
Yes sir. Aus-Tex Transmission. They have great reviews and seem reputable.
Am I overdoing it by getting the Billet torque converter?

It's up to you on the billet converter cover; I typically only do them on HP or HD builds but sometimes the customer wants one, regardless.

I hope this is the correct place to ask this question, if not I apologize. I just had my 6l80 transmission replaced on my 2007 Yukon Denali with 147K miles by the chevy dealer Bill Roberts Bolivar MO, for $5600. When I got it back yesterday, I tried the manual shift mode and it does not do anything. I called the service advisor and he said that had nothing to do with the transmission, that it would be a problem in the buttons on the column. So, if I take it back it will be more money. Should I try to troubleshoot myself using the videos and 14 pages of posts on this forum, or should this have been part of the replacement?

To clarify the history - the shifting problems began around the first of this year, and the manual shift mode stopped working at the same time. The two shops I took it to prior to the dealer both said it need a transmission rebuild or replace. They did not say that the manual shift mode, which I noted in my complaints, was a separate issue that would not be solved by the transmission replacement. I went with the dealer trans because of the warranty.
