makes me wonder why the rec port ls3 heads don't seem to do this. those get hot lapped at tracks and shut down very quickly in the pits. I personally let mine idle a bit to cool down(except that one time lol) but I see it often, especially in the more stock cars.

lucky I have Cathedral head 6.0 lol. but maybe a good reason to run a 170-180 stat in the 6.2? even thou power wise it won't make much difference but get some cooler water back there? I have a 170 I made from a nissian 240 on my ls3 and it sits at 190-193 all the time, feels about perfect. could it be the lack of cross over pipes or whatever those little vent tubes are called at all 4 corners?
