    ABS Freakout

I don't know the resistance levels for the sensors. They are a magnetic pick-up sensor, no moving parts, similar to crank/camshaft sensor. It's highly improbable that both would go bad at the same time though. Check the resistance readings on both, it should be the same. If they are not...

    ABS Freakout

Cheapest first. Check wheel sensor wires/connectors at both wheels. Replace wheel sensors. You should be able to hear/feel a bad wheel bearing when the truck is up and you spin the wheel.

    Starting issues on '03 Yukon

Check your Idle Air Control (IAC). Symptoms you describe are classic. Remove IAC and clean the seating area and the IAC plunger tip. Check for any vacuum leaks as well. Check Mass Air Flow (MAF) for damage/contamination and the connector. It's not hard to damage a MAF filament when handling...

DTC Codes on my 02 Tahoe

Relatively easy job removing the dry intake manifold. Check out YouTube for vids on job, makes it easy. These knock sensors can be easily flooded with water by washing engine, and breaking contact with the harness. Get the Felpro steel and rubber gasket, not cheapest, but best. Bad knock...

    02 tahoe wont start.

Crank sensor/connection? Anti-Theft ? Try removing battery cables and let it sit for a good 15-20 minutes so the ECM memory goes completely dead. Then reconnect and try to start. This would be the cheapest thing to start with. No codes ?

    2003 5.3l Tahoe 4x4

Starter may require some shimming now. It will be trial and error to find the right number of shims. Just a thought before you start buying parts to change.

    Surging and dying problems

Fuel pressure reg. is on left side fuel rail, in the middle. It's VAC actuated, so it will have a hard VAC line running into it from the manifold. That wobbly of a fuel pressure reading my be a concern. There is a fuel pressure check valve at/in the fuel pump assembly. Normally this only...

    CEL codes

I've had "new" MAF's from Auto Zone(AZ) come out of the box bad also. They must have gotten a bad batch from the supplier at one time. Run into 3 of them so far in my area. When I changed the "new" MAF out with the one from my truck problem was solved. AZ store gave no problem exchanging...

    P1514 & P1518 Codes

Have you been under the hood doing anything of late ? Could you have dislodged the the connectors from the MAF or T-Body ? Sounds like the MAF and the T-Body are arguing over the air flow amount. Check connections at both. Check for air leaks between the two. Could be bad MAF. If the...

    Surging and dying problems

Yes, I have heard of after market alarms causing all kinds of problems. Good call by your friend. Also the crank sensor may be going out as the symptoms you describe can be that too. If this is the case. Be mindful when you remove it if it has any shims with/on it. Sometimes they can be...

    ect high?

Water pump change out is easy, but messy. I got 150K out of mine before the gasket failed. Pump was still good, just the gasket failed. Sounds like you found the problem though. Gauge is at normal position. Water Pump flow ? Two lines going into the heater core, one input, one output. Set...

    CEL codes

I agree sounds like a VAC leak. There is a line going into the top, in the middle of the intake manifold. It should have a short piece of flex line connecting it to a hard plastic line. This is the PVC vacuum line. Disconnect the line at the manifold and plug a VAC gauge into it. VAC at...

    ect high?

Electric fans turning on ? Fan clutch OK ? It's rare, but water pump/circulator vane disk can dislodge/rot from pump shaft and spin mostly free causing a low flow condition. Higher RPM's sometimes catch the vanes and flow for a while lowering coolant temp.. Check to make sure radiator and...

Fuel pressure regulator ? Clean the IAC seats ? Gauges normal ? VAC lines good ?

    help with lighting/electrical/fuse issue?

I agree sounds like a bad ground. Typical in that it's searching for a ground through any unused circuit.

Intake gaskets ? Sounds like a VAC leak somewhere.

    ABS Freakout

It really doesn't matter which brand you use, they are about the same. Just take it out of the box and check the piston to make sure it's steel. Cost ? I can't remember, but it's not bad. Check online AutoZone, Advance Auto, etc.

    ABS Freakout

Sounds like that caliper is bad. Most OEM calipers have a plastic/nylon piston in them that get scarred in the caliper cylinder with use and will not retract back. Most aftermarket calipers have a stainless steel piston, check when you buy. Only buy the steel one. I would change out both...

Tahoe won't start the first time

First and cheapest thing to do, change fuel filter. Anyone can get pressure, but we need pressure and FLOW. Also I'd do a VAC check. 17-20 inches and a steady needle.

    Very Hard Cold Weather Starts

I agree, intake manifold gaskets are a HIGH probability. The VAC test should be reading between 17-20 inches and the needle stable. No jumping around. If it does, then the gaskets are bad. As these engines have very few VAC lines/uses, it's most likely is the intakes. It's an easy job to...

    Very Hard Cold Weather Starts

Did you do a vacuum test yet ? Did clean the IAC seat in the throttle body when it was replaced ? Had one come in like that, drove me crazy. Finally at wits end, I changed out the MAF to a "known good". Shockingly it solved the problem. No codes were thrown to indicate a bad MAF.

this is a new problem for me now.....

I second checking the rear diff. Just take off the diff. cover and check for metal in the fluid. Use a small pry bar and try to move the diff. up and down, left and right. It should not move. The outer axle bearings should be checked for leaks and movement. Take off the tires and try to...

Feels like my differential will fall off!!!!

Differential Had the same symptoms on a '99 Burban. Turned out to be a bad inner axle bearing. The drive shaft will transfer the grinding sound to the trans area. First check to make sure all the U-joints and CV are solid. If yes, then go to next easiest/cheapest check. Crack open the...

Removing rear a/c unit and lines from 2006 suburban

The shop near me cuts the rear lines and TIGs a cap/valve on lines. Then evac and charge. Front A/C works great afterward. Here in Michigan those rear lines rot from road salt, and the cost of replacing the lines is too high. So yes you can have someone TIG a cap on those lines.
