    Have you had...

The rear drums should be able to be set up by sliding a brake tool through the slot on the back plate to in gage the star wheel. Moving the brake tool “up”, will move the star wheel down, which spreads the brake shoes further apart. If the star wheel is jammed, you might have a drum with a...

    factory alternator?

You won’t be sorry you had it rebuilt. I find that rebuild shops use better components, like heavier diodes, etc. Dealing direct with their customers, they know their reputation can be a good thing, building their business. When things are rebuilt in Mexico, all bets are off, as they...

    Have you had...

Any chance the self adjuster, got put in backwards, on the passenger side? That would cause it to tighten while braking forward rather than in reverse.

    factory alternator?

A local shop rebuild my stock 85 Amp alternator, changing out the guts of the unit to make a 150 amp alternator. These are the guys that rebuild all the starters and alternators for dealers and parts stores. I didn’t have room for a larger alternator. You might have to leave it with...

    Boost a hoe???

There are deals out there, it just takes patience to find them. To make room for the Twins, I sold a complete Vortech blower kit, from my 95 Tahoe, for $500.00. It only had a couple thousand miles on it and it was in perfect condition. It helps if you have fabricating skills, if you...

    TBI with Multiport?

As I understand it, Genesis, was not looking to sink a lot of money into this project. He inquired about some gain in power to help with towing. Also the truck has 220k on the clock, so that should be kept in mind when making mod’s. For those that are considering multi-port injection, you...

    TBI with Multiport?

That looks great, but to make it really work well, you also need new heads. I always use AFR. The heads will cost $1500 to $2000. I would not want to invest in all of this without rebuilding the engine. I am assuming there is some wiring to do for hooking up the new injectors?

    TBI with Multiport?

Sounds like for your situation, a performance tune and leave it in drive, while towing a trailer is your best option. The injector system you have is capable of adding more fuel. From the factory they would never exceed 80% saturation, for size and duration. Third gear or 1 to 1 has been...

    TBI with Multiport?

How heavy is the trailer and how often will you be pulling it? Long hauls or short?

    A random theory..

No harm in going into Neurtal on hills, but I think it is in the same category as leaning forward in the seat, to gain performance. You may have better vacuum and therefore better brake performance if needed, while the engine is doing some braking. One of the best proven ways to gain...

Need a new motor!!! Any opinions??

Lookin good. I find it easier to bolt the motor mounts to the block, after it is in place with a few bolts through the bell housing. They tend to get hung up on things when getting close to "pinning" the bell housing. Just trying to make it easier.............. :)

    Door issues

I used tyraps to hold the compressed spring, then cut the tyraps after it was back in place. There may be a tool for dealing with that spring, I don't know.

    Door issues

Most often the problem can be cured by replacing the bronze bushings. I used an engine hoist to hold the weight of the door, while I changed mine.:)

    tranny shift ????

Sounds like your 3/4 clutch pack is fried. It is normal for the trans to start off in 2nd when in 2nd. For use in slippery weather.

    heat in my 98 yukon

I don't think the air con can over power the heater core in the cooling mode. Like in the defrost mode when the air cond is on and the heater core easily makes hot air. The air con, dries the air and then the heater core heats it up. It's that valve that varies the flow of hot antifreeze...

    Another problem with the Hoe.

You must have broken an A frame or jarred the alignment enough to notice the change in the steering wheel. Take a good flashlight under the truck and start checking all the components. Check over both the upper and lower A frames closely. Look for cracks.

    heat in my 98 yukon

That does work good, but I'm far enough south of you, that I use Air Conditioning more than heat...........:)

Check the vacuum controlled coolant valve. Make sure it is operating free and opening all the way.

    Tranny won`t shift!

They must have added a throttle position sensor to the crate motor. In some models the mass air flow sensor was also used to determine shift points. Most of the shifting though, depends on that throttle position sensor. There is a chance that if they had to improvise a mount for the TPS...

    Tranny won`t shift!

If you have an 4L60e in a truck that is supposed to have the non electronic version, it should not have worked at all. What year is your truck? The stand alone computers are a piece of cake. I have been using them for many years. http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Electronics/default.asp...

Auto Zone Selling Used Oil as New

Pennzoil doesn’t use the foil on the big bottles. Just the cap with the ring that breaks loose when opened. I did not check it when I bought it. I already had the filter in one hand and just pulled the big bottle out of the display. The manager did not seem to be too surprised. He did...

Auto Zone Selling Used Oil as New

I went to Auto Zone today, bought a oil filter and five quart container of oil, for an oil change. After changing the filter and draining the oil, I started poring the “new” oil in and noticed it was black. I instantly stopped and put some of it into a glass to look at it. Instead of being a...

what do you think of this?

The shift linkage was not made for that constant activity. Here is a link to the electric version which requires wiring, but you don't have to crack open the tranny. http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Electronics/default.asp I see these on ebay from time to time, going for $250 -450...
