Lift Gate Won’t Open (Manually or Auto)

Well I did what’s shown in the video above, and was able to get the gate open, but then I couldn’t shut it. It took some tinkering, but I was finally able to release the lock mechanism so I could close the gate again, but now it won’t open. I think the issue might be the actuator. For whatever...

Lift Gate Won’t Open (Manually or Auto)

Gotcha. I replaced those a few years ago when the hydraulics went out and the gate wouldn’t stay up on its own, so I think those are ok now. It’s the mechanism that automatically lifts and lowers the gate that seems to be broken (in addition to the latch near the handle).

Lift Gate Won’t Open (Manually or Auto)

Are those located above the rear, driver side wheel? It sounds like there’s a gear in there that won’t engage properly, thus the auto lift feature doesn’t work anymore.

Lift Gate Won’t Open (Manually or Auto)

Thanks! I’ll try this out and see if it works on my vehicle.

Lift Gate Won’t Open (Manually or Auto)

The lift gate on my 2007 Tahoe will no longer open either manually or automatically. First the auto feature stopped working with the main problem being the lift gear/mechanism above the driver side rear wheel. At that point I could still manually open the lift gate. However, recently the main...

    Engine Revving in Park

Oil pressure has been fine too. I've not noticed any issues at all.

    Engine Revving in Park

Just a quick update here. I’ve now gone over 3 weeks and 200+ miles of driving, and the check engine light has stayed off. Hopefully it was just the MAF sensor all along (although I won’t be surprised if something else comes up soon).

Yes, that can certainly help too!

    Engine Revving in Park

Quick update: got the vehicle back and everything seems to be normal. I went ahead and changed the oil too (mechanic said it looked like sludge in there). For now check engine light is off and the engine seems to run fine. Hopefully it was just the MAF sensor, but I guess only time and driving...

    Engine Revving in Park

Good to know! I've had numerous issues with the electrical/computer components on this vehicle. While driving 80 mph on the interstate about 1.5 years ago, all the electronics suddenly shut off on me. No speedometer, lights, gauges, radio, etc. Definitely not a fun experience with my family in...

    Engine Revving in Park

Got it. Well hopefully it'll run for a little while with no issues. For added context, back in December I had the TPS replaced. The tech at the time told me I could just replace the sensor or replace the entire system (more $$$). Replacing the sensor, he said, would be a temporary fix, and he...

    Engine Revving in Park

Gotcha. Hopefully a new battery will solve the issue for a few years. As far as all the other codes, could it be possible that those showed up just because of the MAF? And now that the MAF is replaced, the other codes should be cleared for now? Just want to make sure I'm not essentially getting...

Great advice, and thanks for the tip. I’ll be sure to ask for the list of codes tomorrow. I appreciate all the help!

    Engine Revving in Park

Yeah thinking back on it now, I don't think I've ever added 2 quarts at the same time, so that was likely overkill. I've definitely had moments where it needed a top off before completely changing the oil though.

    Engine Revving in Park

Thanks, everyone. Finally got it into a shop, and it was spitting out a ton of codes. One mechanic had the idea to take off the mass airflow sensor (or some part of that system), and suddenly the revving while idle seemed to stop. They're going to start with replacing that sensor in the morning...

    Engine Revving in Park

Thanks everyone. After checking the dipstick, it looks like the oil is way over filled (well above the five dots on the dip stick). Hopefully just draining and changing the oil will be the fix.

    Engine Revving in Park

I just had it in the shop about a month ago to fix the throttle position sensor. That was giving me a check engine light, but there were no noticeable signs when driving. The overnight engine reving, stabilitrak, TCS errors came out of nowhere. The guys at the shop didn’t mention anything else...

    Engine Revving in Park

Thanks. So sounds like the oil isn’t the issue. I’m hoping just a sensor or something small like that. Edit: any chance it could be computer related?

    Engine Revving in Park

Last week I received an “Oil Pressure Low” warning on my 2007 Z71 Tahoe (about 177k miles) while driving. The engine seemed to run ok with no issues. I checked the dip stick, and oil was low, so last night I added two quarts just the same as I usually do. When I turned the car on this morning...

2007 Tahoe Tailgate - Auto Lift Not Working

Hmm interesting. I’ve tried switching mine on and off and I get the same result- noises as if it’s trying to open, but the lift gate never actually lifts.

2007 Tahoe Tailgate - Auto Lift Not Working

Same situation for me. The motor is definitely getting power (I can hear it trying to open). It’s as if the motor slips just enough so the gear never kicks in.
