09 escalade hybrid trans question

They are going to be in the transmission pan. Apparently there are 2 of them.


Edit: That said, and you have already completed a drain and filll... If you dont feel comfortable in doing the tranny filter, dont do it. These 2ML70 transmissions are nearing impossible to find, and I have yet to find anyone thats willing to rebuild one.


yeah that's them.. they are under the pan. the pan does have a rubber gasket, so that's nice it didn't need to be replaced. you will need to lower the auxiliary transmission fluid pump that in front of the pan for room to remove it thou. it's 4 8mm head bolts that tq at a very small number, so don't over tighten them. there's a gasket between the pump and tranny, you may or not need to replace that. I did not.

once the pan is down to just pull the fillers down to remove them and then pull the seal out of the bore and replace it with new ones that come in the kit.

your auto parts store won't have them in stock, so you'll need to order then a few days before you do it. but as said, especially if they were changed before, you don't need to change them again. the tranny is that odd combination of not failing very often which is good but if you do get a failure no one rebuilds them because they have never seen them before so that's bad, but they are around used for from 600 to 1500$ and since they don't fail often the guys that post about buying them are usually happy with them.

Thanks. I'll leave the filters as-is. They were changed with the 6L Jasper reman swap so I'm sure they're fine with only 10k miles on them. With no trans fluid, I only moved the Escalade about 20' total. I'm telling myself I didn't do any damage with that. I'll know next Monday when I get back in town. Fingers crossed.


ahh I misread, when you said you picked up fluid I thought you meant you were home. didn't realize the parts store was 2 hours away.

So here's the rest of the story. I poured the mistakenly drained trans oil into two empty 5w30 gallon jugs to measure how much I needed to replace. It was 7 quarts so I poured that amount back into the trans and it showed full. Then I drained 6 quarts of engine oil to get to the normal fill level. I held my breath and turned the key. It started right off and quickly went to the auto/stop mode. After clearing the 0700 code, I drove about 40 miles and she ran like new. My next and final step is to replace the engine oil and filter since it's a mix of old and new. Many thanks to ya'll for helping me through this. And I guarantee you, that won't happen again!!

I'm still very confused how only 7qt came out of your tranny. that's the weirdest thing to me. everytime there's a post about tranny fluid service on these no one is really for 13-14qt to dump all at once. heck I even over flowed my big roll around drain tank at work the 2nd time I changed mine without paying attention and had to clean up a mess haha.


but alls good. glad it's running and driving again.
