I have a 1998 Yukon with 225,000 miles and it is all original. The truck has front and rear air. The rear air is 20 + degrees cooler then the front air. Any ideas??

Thx

:welcome:

The thermal static valve is probably malfunctioning or air is bypassing the evaporator somehow. Have you open the rear end for inspection yet?

No inspection yet, The problem just started this week. Where is the thermal static valve located? Do you know if there is a valve for diverting the air from the heater core to the evap coils?

the valve is on the evaporator and looks like this:

Do you have a heat option in rear?(I don't recall the applications) if so there would be a diverter door back there that could not be working properly.

How would the expansion valve help the front air?

DAMN YOU Stresst, Just have an aneurism and get it over with.:D

Seriously the fronts don't use TSV in the front it uses orifices. And no you can't modify it. with in a few cycles you will blow your high pressure relief valve on the new compressor(keep a camcorder nearby if you decide to try anyway:)).

+1 on the front orifice being clogged/dirty. Cheap part, easy to replace, but you'll need to evacuate the AC system and run a vacuum to do it right.

Why do you keep getting the wrong parts? You went to the same place again?
