4 Piston Big Brake Upgrade from 2019-20

Here’s the 21 upgrade on my friend’s 05 Silverado. These 20” wheels clear with no spacer needed.

Thats the 6 spoke yes? They make that in a 17" too that fits.
It would be nice to have a library of wheels that clear.



I wonder if these RAM wheels would clear...18x8 ET19.

Well just got back from the dealership (one that has always done right by me). There is a national back order in my region. And the few dealers that have the calipers will not sell them unless you have a VIN.

Secondly, they want $181 for caliper. There was a dealer about 1.5hr from me, but don't have that time right now.

I have done countless brake upgrades on GM trucks and have never had an issue with the ABS. Whether larger OEM GM calipers on a different application or building a custom Wilwood set up for my 04 Colorado.

As long as you have a properly operating or maintained braking system you should be fine. As far as the YouTube or Wiki engineers........take what they say with a grain of salt and a shot of something. Hot Rodders have been proving them wrong for years.

Do your research, look at the reviews and go from there. Don't let a single hear say post scare you. I have found over the 20 years of being on car/truck forums one thing always holds true.....those who say, no, engineer this or have never truly wrenched on a car will always be the first to say, don't do it. They're just scared or don't have the skill to make things happen or work.

Don't hesitate on the rear brake upgrade. Its super easy

Awesome. Looking on Rock Auto the 2WD caliper does have a different look than a AWD/4WD. But can’t tell much else looking on there so you may want to try one of each.



Any more info you can share? I see in your signature you have an 08. Did you use the 2WD or 4WD caliper? Did the GMT-800 rotor work fine with the 900 parking brake?

My sig pic is like 10 yrs old lol, so disregard that. I have a 2010 tahoe z71 and 2009 rcsb LT nowadays. Same difference though. Everything was just a simple bolt on. New dual piston calipers, rotors, and pads that I ordered for gmt800 tahoe z71 platform. No difference in removal and installation process from the original calipers. Just do it, you'll be fine [emoji106]

Ok, so I didn't even need to remove the existing caliper to figure out this wasn't even close to working. My 2010 Tahoe Z71 with the factory 18 inch wheels had about .75 inch clearance between the wheel and original caliper, which is very generous. The original caliper measures approximately 3.5 inches from the mounting flange to the outer edge of the caliper closest to the wheel. The new 2019+ caliper measures approximately 4.75-4.875 inches from the mounting flange to the outer edge of the dreaded casting "bump". Looks like new wheels are going to need to go on here since I just bought new bfg ko2s. Pics attached. We need this info stored in a sticky or something, if possible

Any feedback from actual driving conditions?? Hydroboost or vac boost? Drum or disk in the back of that silverado? How long has your friend had them on? I'm waiting to install mine until more feedback comes across. Not that 2 vehicles are alike but the feedback from real-world driving is important to me.

Vacuum boost and rear drums. They’ve been in there for 6 months I’m wanting to say. Don’t remember exactly when I installed them for him. He said it’s much better, he hasn’t complained and he likes finding things to complain about. I haven’t driven it since then but the pedal feels great.

Entering Final Assembly....
They tell me my wheels are in. OMG
So I should have these things on by Tuesday-Weds.
No stickers yet though. :-( The company is in LA, I'm in Orange County (about 40mins), shipped on Tuesday, Still not here.
I really think these calipers would look great machined and clear coated.
