Ok Sorry People...

Got way off topic and Outa hand...

I think The OP should go with Ported... Much Louder than sealed, And Less stress on a Woofer...

Ide step it up to 6 type-R 12's and Justr get a Nice 3-4k Amp....

im with blueflamed as far as the power you mentioned running 1000 rms per sub is a little much well twice what they are rated for so i wouldnt suggest that. i think 3-4k total watts would be perfect and pretty much maximize each subs output. 500-650rms or so per sub would be perfect

No need to bicker and clutter his thread guys, take it to PM if you wanna continue.

BOSSMANN, ive always been a 15" guy, just like em for some reason. So that would be my recommendation

4 15's would hit harder than 6 12's?

I just have so many options that it's driving me nuts!!

1. 6 12" Alpine Type-R's Dual 2ohm, 5000w rms amp, ported box tuned to 33-34hz

2. 4 12" DD 9512 Dual 2ohm, 6000-8000w rms amp, ported box tuned to 33-34hz

3. 4 15" Alpine Type-R's Dual 2ohm, 4,000w rms amp, ported box tuned to 33-34hz

For electrical I have 250amp Alternator, Optima Yellow top (main battery), 2 Optima Blue Tops, Big 3, 10 Farad Capacitor.

Can you imagine a Crown 3,000 and 3 JBL GTi 15s? :drool It would sound so good and STILL get plenty loud.

on topic... I imagine if you do the 6 12s you'd wire them series on the subs to 4 ohms,
then parallel 3 together for a 1.3 nominal load, then series those two branches to wind up at 2.6 Nom.

Will your amp do the wattage you desire at ~3 ohms?

Also, have you listened to each sub at the wattages you propose and in an enclsoure similar in spec to what you will be using?

Long before i would commit to either idea, I;d want to know if a Single was going to play ok or sound like rice crispies with a lot of mechanical noise and cone cry.

For your Type R, listening to a single one ~1000W should not be too hard.

Dbs are logarithmic so 4 subs would be about 6 db louder than a single.

For your DD, you'd want to listen to a single sub at about 2,000 W, and that might be difficult.

So capacitors are no good?
I've read things about them that are for them and against them, I honestly don't think their is a big gain in having them.

I am looking for an amp that will put out what I want @ ~3ohms. Any ideas? Say 5,000w rms?
