Dear all,

I am writing this thread to alarm all E-fan users from doing the same mistake I found my self suffering from. :nono:

So the story (short version):
few days ago something went wrong temp goes up (more than half) so I stoped the tahoe I checked and found that one of coolant ends was leaking and actually spraying coolant every where. :893Chainsaw-Smilie-

So I manged to get to a near shop and we agreed to take the E-Fan Temperature Sensor out and then we found it was made out of cheap weak steal no way it can be used near water and "it was the cause for the rust color in the coolant!!"

So no I am researching for a replacement and this is what I found out:

* Flex-a-lite 32082 - Flex-a-lite In-Line Hose Adapters:

Flex-a-lite#400-32082
In-Line Hose Adapter
1-1/2'' I.D.

$49.99

* Mishimoto Universal Coolant Temperature Sensor Adapter

11297.jpg

Description:

Mishimoto offers a simple and efficient way to tap a water/coolant temperature sensor directly into a radiator hose for the most accurate reading possible. The sensor adapters are available in a variety of colors and sizing, particularly for the most common radiator hose diameters. Each aluminum adapter features a 1/8 NPT bung to accommodate most sensors. Accurate measurement of these temperatures can be critical to performance, especially for cars that see extreme heat or track usage.

Diameters available:
* 28mm = 1 1/32"
* 30mm = 1 1/16"
* 32mm = 1 1/4"
* 34mm = 1 3/8"
* 38mm = 1 1/2"

$24.00

* found as an example:

Yah I have seen your work and I was planning to use a link to your thread as a reference, but I start thinking of a more universal solution where otheres can use as a method to get the coolant temp reading and the e-fan steup

I have had efans on every vehicle I own, lots of different setups.
I can honestly say that you would be way better off saving all that money on those parts and get a tune instead so you have better control over temps, on off speed settings, no leaks/intrusive work, etc.

Good point. In your neck of the woods what we do here in the states is not likely to be the same or common place where you live. And obviously vice versa. Lets hope over time more helpful information makes it to others in your region of the world to help them with their involvement in accomplishing tasks like these.

No ones ever mentioned them because on a Vortec headed/Vortec block setup they are useless. Vortec heads on a std block, they could be useful if plumbed right, std heads on std block, no not unless it's some special race setup that doesn't have the internal bypass or the block is short filled or something like that.

If you have rust in your coolant you have a problem somewhere it's not the coolant temp sensor, I can assure you of that.
