And this slip yoke is for 2007-2014 Yukon/Tahoe?

---------- Post added at 07:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:09 PM ----------

That's the same one I got.
I also got the tail shaft housing with bushing = 24241496
& u-joints = 23104840.

Doing this eliminated the clunk for me.

What a lot of people seem to neglect with the clunk is the bushing in the tail shaft housing does wear over time.

I like the price of the nickel plated one.

Are those the part numbers on the fort wayne clutch site? Didn't find anything by searching on them.

From what the ad says, it is not for our transmissions but for 80e trans.

No, those were provided to me by GMpartsdirect through my VIN#

Called Fort Wayne Clutch and apparently there are 2 slip yoke choices. One with inside snap rings and one with outside snap rings. Have no idea if that is something I can identify just looking at the slip yoke in place.

I don't recall the yoke having any type of snap ring at all.

I found the housing with seal for $51.52 delivered
And the u-joint was $48.09, I only bought one online. I ended up buying another at Oriellys for around $25.
BUT, you can find u-joints at your local parts store for a lot less, around $50 for two of them. If you go that route, make sure to buy the ones with zerk fitting and not the pin hole greaseable joints.

If you google the part numbers, you should be able to browse through and find the least expensive seller.

This clunk typically doesn't happen going over speed bumps. You may have another issue lurking.

Well, it must be something else then. Just went over a larger speed bump slowly and heard the kind of squeaking noise. I hate replacing items that may or may not be bad with the hopes of finding the actual problem. I am still leaning towards the springs. I did replace the sway bar bushings, but not the sway bar end links. :hmmm2:

How difficult was it to replace the tail shaft housing?

You mentioned tail shaft housing with seal, is that the seal between the housing and shaft of the housing and the transmission?

My new nickel plated slip yoke + u-joint is on its way from Fort Wayne and now I am looking to order the tail shaft housing.

Keep us in the know. Mine is clunking bad now. Especially when it has to downshift. Control arm bushings sometime squeak my drivers side does time to time. I spray it with lithium grease and it works for a couple months.

The tail shaft housing was very easy to remove.
The seal comes with it already installed. Its the seal that goes between the housing and the trans. It should also come with the bushing and seal at the rear of the housing as well. Unbolt the old and bolt up the new :)
This is the part number I used. Double check with gmpartdirect to make sure its compatible to your specific vehicle.

Put the jack under the pan to hold the weight

Remove the two trans mount bolts first. Then jack the trans up to expose the lower bolts and remove them. There's 6 bolts and the sensor mounting bolt.

Hope this helps
