JBA. Eddlebrock? Shortys? its all Spanish to me and Spanish isn't even my second language...I just want a little performance out of em....not racing oerformance just something to assist with acceleration

Well the biggest thing is emissions. Do you have them? what inspections do they do when you go in.
shorties will be the easy to do, but you wont get the full benefit of headers (switch to longtubes).. If you want the best bang for the buck, do it from LTs, to a nice set of high flow cats, nice muffler, and exit. Thus knocking out all the restrictive parts in the exhaust system.

Agreed - shorties will do very little for you.
HOWEVER, long tube headers provide their own challenges, namely installation and cost. I'm not aware of a setup that is bolt-on...so it typically involves some custom pipe bending, welding, new cats and a longer and knuckle bruising install time.
You will also need to purchase a new exhaust system, so the overall cost is going to be quite high. To fully benefit from your new found flowing exhaust, you should also switch to a performance air intake and have your computer programmed.
If you simply change up your exhaust system w/o modding the air coming in and the computer, the benefits will not live up to the chuck of change you just dropped.
Your rig weighs 6700lbs, so performance enhancements are always relative

Vortecs have a ypipe as well right? or are the mufflers dual in dual out? '
If you went with shorties for the hell of it, i know Magnaflow sells a nice Ypipe too increase the airflow. food for the thought

Great info all around. Ty. So I guess if I got shorty's only for the sake of cost and bolting on. My existing exhaust is okay. My muffler "sounds" restricted. On my old Tahoe I had a 40 series exhaust. And muffler. Sounded Awesome. This thing I have on it now sounds Restricted. Literally it sounds okay because the air is moving so slow. I hate it. People who don't know what a good muffler sounds like think it's sounds good. But I can't stand it. Sounds like it's suffocating.
I run JBA shorties, direct bolt on, emmission legal. Best fitting headers I have meesed with (they're my 5th set)
im going with a set of pacesetter longtubes with the armorcoating or whatever they call their ceramic coating... course im doing a custom 3 inch exhaust to a dual in dual out to the duals out the factory exit. greater benefits from the longtubes... shorties are supposed to be pretty much the same size of a manifold so you would have to do much with the existing exhaust

Our motors react very well to Thorley Tri-Y headers. They sell a complete kit that includes all hardware gaskets and y-pipe. It bolts directly to your exsisting exhaust with NO modifications. Oh and they are 50 state legal.
Now if price is a factor, then I'm not sure you want to look at Thorleys. They are quite a bit more than the others listed. I love mine, fit and finish is great and the all around quality is second to none.
Now, even though I have Thorleys. If I were to do it again, I would go with LTs.
