Gm paints over chrome from the factory..

454ss trucks come with a standard chrome front and rear bumper, then they paint over it.. why cant you do it? my tahoe bumpers were done the same way but by me. Treat chrome as if it was metal. sand, etch, primer, paint, clear

I have never seen it stand up and why would GM paint over chrome bumpers? Proof or it didn't happen.

Why would they chrome a bumper and then paint it?

probably had a huge ass supply of them or something. no idea. doesnt make sense but it is possible..

Ive seen people sand blast bumpers with the black beauty stuff then etch prime etc etc..
What ever you do make sure you prep it well enough.

Maybe I am wrong but I never heard good stories of painting/powdering chrome.

I had my chrome wheels blasted then powder coated almost a year ago and they're holding up great. Granted they don't see as much abuse as a front bumper does, but it can be done.
