I don't know but I noticed it lines up with the fuel rail pretty neatly. Maybe if the fuel rail catches fire and explodes that keeps your doodads safe.

You might be on to something. I got a P219B code yesterday.

Are you talking about the spoon-like guard directly behind the fuel rail? Or do you have a pic?

It’s a large piece of plastic with foam on the manifold side. It sits between the intake manifold and the firewall.

Oops. I was talking about the spoon like heavy metal guard. Dunno about the one that's such a pain to reach around.

Yeah that dumb thing was for sound deading.......take it off and throw it in the recycle bin.

On that subject, how about the little foam pieces under the intake?
Two pieces that seem to serve to catch dirt and heat...

I forgot them when i put my engine together.

I have trouble accepting that the bean counters let GM engineers put useless parts on an engine especialy when you can't see them.
