New to my Tahoe and the site. Interested in putting an intake in the truck and was looking for any kind of recommendations. I put a cheap one in my Jeep and am looking to go for a real name brand part for the Tahoe. I've noticed a lot of AEM and K&N talk and wanted to see if these were the two most liked or if there are any other options. Also wondering if Craigslist or used intakes would be a good/ bad idea. I'm on a college budget after all.

thanks

Both K&N and AEM are great products. im a K&N fan and have used their filters for a few years on multiple vehicles including my Tahoe and havent had any problems. i got mine on Amazon for $220... which is about $80 cheaper than what you'd pay at an auto parts store.

They didnt have the AEM one on Amazon... but they are both good choices. Either way you go, you made a good choice.

Do you think trying to find it used on Craigslist would be a good idea? Or would I be better off using Amazon or Ebay for a discounted new part? Have you actually seen a difference in power or MPG or would I be paying for noise?

Went the cheapest route with my Jeep intake and got a cheap part. Didn't come with all the proper parts and is really flimsy in the engine bay. Thats why I'm probably going name brand with this purchase.

look for gmpp, slp, volant first because they are a closed lid designed, keeps the heat out...then go aem, spectre, k n....you might see or feel a little something but mainly just noise. best bang for the buck a tune, even just as cheap mail order tune

If you want cheap just go with the Swiss cheese mod. I did that with mine and a k&n drop in. Sounds nice and improved throttle response.

Airaid MIT and add a K&N to the stock air box. That's all you need. Even with a stock filter the only real restriction is the tube. Not much of gain no matter what you use.

I'm thinking about putting an intake on this year. I have been looking at this Injen, and wanted to know what everyone thought.
