Yeah I remember reading about it. Which to me is fine if they did it for the tunes sold after the change of policy. But I have an issue with them changing the policy for those of us who purchased the tunes when the policy was free updates for life. That's like having a warranty on something you build but when too many of the parts start failing you change it to no warranty. It’s part of the reason I bought HPT.
@Rocketman I know you said you purchased, I believe an HPtuner, where did you purchase it from if you don't mind sharing the details.

I bought it from Amazon. They’re not cheap at all- I believe it was around $600 for the tuner and credits. You need credits for each VIN after you buy the tuner itself. An ECM requires one, a TCM needs another. So for most vehicles you need 2 but it only takes one for a NBS because the ECM and TCM is one module. There’s no separate module for the trans. So it’s not really cost effective if you’ve already paid BB or someone else for a tune as long as they offer inexpensive or feee updates but I didn’t care. My truck was down for a month, actually maybe 2,waiting on BB to get back and forth with me so we could figure out what the problem was, and I wasn’t going to rely on anyone anymore. I’ve been lazy and left the rest of the tunes alone (I paid them to tune my 08 Silverado too) even though I’m sure I could milk a bit more power out of my 02. It’s working, it’s pretty fast, and I’m happy with that.

Thank you for the quick response. I'm using this request for an updated tune for the TBSS update timeline as a guide on where I will go in the future. Believe it or not, I went with BBP because of this forum and your recommendation. I've been quite pleased with my tunes but lately with the delays, all the other crap you have mentioned and now the broken promise I'm a bit disappointed.

Yessir I used to be one of their best supporters and I recommended a lot of people to them. Then after a few years they seemed to get too busy and their lead times got super long, and soon after that the pay-for-updates thing came along. Which was one of the things I was touting when I recommended them, and it turned into an embarrassment for me, because I was still saying you get free updates for life AFTER they changed the policy because I didn’t know. They didn’t add a disclaimer on their website when they changed, saying they no longer do it, they just removed the words that stated free updates. So that kinda made me mad. Not that I didn’t get free updates so much as the fact I was advertising for them, saying something that was no longer true. And I couldn’t even verify that that was the fact because their website didn’t say anything about no longer doing it, I had to call them. So I no longer recommend them, but I try not to bash them either. Their service is definitely worth it, but people need to know the drawbacks too. They used to be an awesome deal with the best service, now they’re a decent deal with service that requires a lot of patience.

Very pleasant surprise this evening when I checked my email. My tune from BBP for my TBSS intake was delivered. Now to find time to install that intake. Maybe a little time off during Thanksgiving Day break. Looking forward to this upgrade.

It won’t take long to install and load the tune.

Yep, loading the tune takes just a few minutes. If all goes smoothly, the uninstall/install of the intake a couple hours at most. Problem is finding those hours. Still working, three grand babies and fourth on the way.

In Indiana right now visiting my wife’s parents and doing projects around their house. They are both in their upper 80s. Try to make the trip every 6 to 8 weeks. They will not entertain an assisted living place at this time. Hoping to get to a couple of u-pick yards while I’m here. Born and raised here so I know all the great locations. Will be going to the Norte Dame game tonight, so making the best use of this time.
