I really thought this was gonna go differently than it did. I mean knock sensors aren’t that much to deal with right?!

Apparently I was wrong hahah. now to explain.....

Everything started out okay at first. no problems disconnecting anything(besides the c clip on the stupid CC connector to the throttle body that disappeared), that is until I got to my fuel lines. the plastic quick release tools i had wouldn't release the lines. Drove to my buddies across town to get a metal set. got those off and boom manifold was off finally. 210k miles without ever being taken off looked like this.

After spending about a solid hour cleaning it i finally got it as good as it was going to get unless I busted out the pressure washer which was something i really didnt care to do lol. Figured while i was there i should replace the factory oil pressure sensor. Well i did not realize how long it was and i did not have a 1 1/16 socket deep enough for it... found out finally that i could loosen the cam position sensor next to it and twist it far enough to get some pliers on it and tighten it down.

So now the oil pressure sensor is in, knock sensors w/ new harness, and everything is cleaned on the motor ready for gaskets and intake manifold
I went with the FEL-PRO metal/rubber gasket kit instead of sticking with the flemsy plastic factory style crap.View attachment 252183

Nice Job of cleaning the engine. I removed that foam thing under the front of the Intake (yours may of already been removed) and went to my local DIY car wash and blasted the front of the engine and all under the Intake the best I could really cleaned up nice. That's a lot of work to clean all that grease and sand that gets under that Intake. Thanks for sharing your stories of dropping clips and breaking fittings as well I thought I was the only guy having that crap happen at midnight on a work night. The amount of work you get done while holding down a full time job is amazing.

3rd 5k. 10,000 not enough !! New steering wheel nice. I just wish the 00-02 had the radio control on them.

I did put rtv under the boots like around the edge of them. But I didn’t want a **** ton of silicone gooped up around them so I didn’t go extreme with it hahaha.

thank you that means a lot! I still want that engine bay cleaner than it is right now though haha. And I left the foam on the intake manifold. It was surprising to me that none of that had every been removed before I owned it. Hopefully I can get another 200k out of this engine it runs really good at least.

haha yeah it’s always been the plan to run a 5k per pair of subs in this. Right now I have one 5k per 3 wired at .33ohm. So the amps currently will heat up a little quicker with how low of impedance they are set at. Once I get the third amp in I’ll be at .5ohm per pair of subs. Might not gain a lot on the meter but amps will be a lot happier and I’ll be able to play longer without stuff getting hot.

I think that some of the denalis actually had steering wheel controls factory in 99-02. It took me awhile to find this wheel without the steering controls cause I didn’t want them.

Did your wheel come out of a work type vehicle? Chevy Express, work pickup? Non leather wrapped usually does. Just curious.

Back in the 90's amps were very expensive. I had a ADS PQ-20 (look it up) I paid 780.00 new and you could run it off your stock alternator. Had two 8'' subs and a pair of 6X9's in the back rear window of a 78 Trans Am. At the time that was a decent system only one other guy had a better system than me with two PQ-20's in a IROC-Z. Before the ADS I had a Rockford amp. Systems are much cheaper now compared to years ago. I have been looking at those DC amps since following your build. I like the new 20k. Never had power like that in the good old days.

You really want to drive the ''Squishy Kid'' Tahoe another 200k.. When I see all these newer trucks everywhere I think man I would really like a different truck. Had my Tahoe ten long years and never done a burnout it just hooks up. Tires last a long time maybe too long.
