no maf, no misfires. guess i need to learn how to tune idle without it :bawl:

kinda tried some of your advice @iamdub

with the maf on, i tried to add some more timing (thinking if too much fuel was blowing out spark, more advance may have a chance of lighting off). tried leaning it out a little bit, was set "safe" with the PE around 1.3 (about 11.3 afr) on e85 i should be still be safe up to about 12afr. still broke up, up top, the MAF would just max out and bounce around between like 12,500hz and 13,500hz and cause all sorts of weird fueling. i'll post a screen shot of it breaking up with the misfire counts.

i did mess with the idle the other day and after failing out the MAF it is atleast able to start and idle, coast down is fine. turning on the ac and crap like that messed it up, wants to oscillate, and go down to like 500rpm n crap so it def needs work. little iffy coming up to a turn or something acts like it wants to stall out lol, gotta keep playing with it.

also 2>3 shift is kinda fucky, throttle closing...im promise im not letting off :anitoof: i dont think i can command the shift to happen any faster so im not sure if the throttle blade is getting pushed closed or some sort of torque management is still in the tune somewhere maybe, i dunno. 1>2 does it seamless, 3>4 i try not to WOT that shift - mostly because that is like 140+ at that point but it seems to shift fast enough not to move the throttle blade.

need to back off the timing a little bit, thats like 17psi and 15* of spark, a little hot

uhh both of these were completed on a closed course

MAF on wot:

Like a stock MAP sensor (1 BAR), could the MAF have a limit? You may have answered this already, but have you tried a new MAF or cleaning the current one? AFAIK, they work by heating the wires, then calculating the air mass by how much the air cools the wires and alters the impedance. Or something like that. Maybe boost at upper RPM cools it beyond it's tolerances for accurate readings? Does it have a screen? Where is it located in the intake tract?

it just doesnt read any higher, ive already straightened the charge pipe path to get it hit as much as possible.

the ls3/ls7 style maf? but i think it would need to go into a large intake pipe..they do some weird low range high range crap though, i'm not sure if its even worth doing. putting this maf in a larger pipe could extend the range a little further but it wouldnt really truely be effective unless i change the entire path to atleast a 4" - meaning charge pipe $200, throttle body (102mm) $275-600 and intake lid with atleast a 102mm opening $300. so not really a cheap upgrade, would still have its issues.

That's right, I forget you people with your 2010+ and fancy stick MAFs...

Hmm... I wonder if that's just it- could the stick style MAF not be so boost friendly and the older style is? Beyond dicking around with the scaling, I'm at a loss.

My 09 L9H has the fancy stick style :)

View attachment 257766

that is the style maf i have as well.

the ls3/7 maf is IMG_7251__88371.1345144783.1280.1280__71061.1462478298.1280.1280.jpg

i dont think is actually has any higher of a HZ range though. either one i think would have to go into a larger pipe, which would sorta mechanically scale it as the sample would be a smaller portion of the air flow. but that drops the resolution

:naughty:

the maf is already in a 3.5" pipe (about 90mm)

i dunno the more i look into it most threads end in just throwing the maf in a larger tube and run it. like i layed out earlier that is kind of a pain in my case to upsize the entire track. i dont know if i can even make the bend out of the intake with 4"
