there is some felt paper or something that covers these two areas from the factory. going to try and block them off to force all the air thru the radiator and crap

got the new front timing cover in and on, put the water manifold back on and filled up with water/water wetter. waiting on ATI super damper to come in (sposed to be tomorrow). i think new belts from RA should be delivered also - i ordered the pre-07 ac tensioner from them also but it isnt going to be delivered till next week so i overnighted one from amazon, it showed up today and bolted up no problem. was going to maybe try to make the same tensioner work on the alternator belt but its not very strong may work just to keep alignment though. i'll see when the one from RA shows up. i think the ATI damper has some shoulders on the pulleys, hoping itll hold the belt a little better

trucool is pretty much done. i used hard tubing for one side of the trucool. didnt have enough to do the other side, didnt have the right fittings to make a ptfe hose either. had a braided rubber hose already made up that worked pretty good, was a little long but not worth redoing. i'll probably order some more 3/8 stainless tube and replace it next time front bumper is off

Bro, do you even heat exchange?

all damn day

i swapped the transcooler to the 40k, seems to have helped keep trans temps low, as well as open up some radiator space. did about a 30min cruise earlier, dash said outside temp was 88*. trans temp stayed 160-175 depending on the whipping level, engine temp seem to go from about 180-195*. havent blocked off the sides of the radiator yet either, prob wont for a while cause it seems to be fine but yea.

the new damper did absolutely jack shit, belts still flew off as soon as i got on it, i have littered the countryside with belts at this point. i rigged up the stock tensioner, acts just like an idler pulley cause its not tensioning anything, but it seems to have worked...belt has stayed on for a few rips.

getting some break up up top in the rpm 6k+ i thought it could be the trans slipping but it shows as the rpm is dropping on the logs and wideband fluctuating a bit from where it should be. hoping its just the maf max'd out and causing some weird fueling crap. i dumped abunch of fuel up top to see if it clears up. still cant get it to idle worth a shit in only SD to see if it would be fine without the maf sick of messing with it for the most part

Hey Randy,

Do you have the part numbers or something for the aluminum upper control arms?

Rock auto doesn't seem to list the aluminum uppers for our rigs any more.

They "dont" make them...i ordered everything for the front of a 2015 silverado or something like that. Ended up with mevotech arms because those are also discontinued from gm

pretty sure this is spark problems... aside from the obvious bad coil problems i was having, the upper rpm break ups have pretty much started after swapping out all the coils. i started by replacing the entire driverside bank and it seemed to clean up most of the part throttle crap, but upper rpm went to shit. swapped the entire passenger side and part throttle seems great, but high load it goes to junk. its not really an rpm thing, cause first gear will run to 6500 with no issues, shift to second go smooth till about 5200 rpm and then start breaking up.
in the tune i bumped up the dwell time - this is basically the charging time of the coil before it fires, from looking around i can get away with about 5ms anything over that shortens the coil life. some coils require the dwell time to be raised. in this case i think it masks weaker coils (new ones). looking back at logs doesnt seem this have ever really been an issue.

Too big a spark gap and the boost is blowing out the flame?

no

these plugs ( R5671A-8) are only gapped to .031

just replaced them, i added a ball valve to the PCV system also. i think it was sucking up a little too much oil and cyls 7/8 were kinda gunky
