I probably missed something, but why is it you’re not doing away with the MAF and running a speed density tune? I’m no expert at all in fact sometimes I have a hard time tying my shoes in the morning but I thought that’s what everybody goes to. That’s what Justin @BB was talking about on my Denali if I wanted to pulley down. I actually need to do a bunch of stuff if I want to do that but doing away with the MAF was one part.

the gen4+ ecms use the maf to calculate a lot of air speed/mass, torque, trans shifting crap "behind the scenes" in the tune. without it they revert to default settings coefficients and assumptions.

yes it works and if racing was my only plan then it would be fine. which at the moment i am trying to make it work on SD only for that purpose. but at the low end/idle the gen4s dont exactly do what you tell it to do. it wants to reference torque tables to maintain idle speed, spark, and airflow. so youre not telling it to open throttle 22%, spark advance at 18* and idle at 850...you have to tune it to have 100ft lbs of torque at idle, which it looks at the tables and says to get 100ft lbs i need to have x/y/z, if i go lower i need to do add X to y/z to get back to *** with out the maf that is

Thank you for explaining that. I was wondering why as well. Makes sense

Plugs are gapped just fine!
20200919_210943.jpg

Caught it pretty quick, swapped and everything seems fine. Checked all the other ones also, they good. i have a set of heat range 9 plugs as spare but i ordered another set of heat range 8.

also think i may have had a break through with the googling my speed density tune issues. apparently when you fail the maf out it limits the throttle blade during idle. which would very much explain why the pos wont idle over like 500rpm no matter how much i tell it to. :banghead:
im tempted to run outside and try it tonight to see if it fixes my probs but neighbors prob ***** some

Ouch.! was that due to a lean condition? I’ve got no clue how to read plugs.. obviously.

half right! this cylinder showed a buttoad of misfire counts, strap gone its usually cause of too much heat (timing) fueling being all messed up doesnt help. in this case it was probably just firing repeatedly out of sequence

Looks like some plugs I've pulled out of the camaro when leaning on the nitrous too much...lol
