“and I got a headlight out”

LOL the simple things in life!
gmt900... i gotta take the damn bumper off to change it though, simple but annoying lol

i put some miles on it, it pulled a little to the right... which after seeing the caliper bolt missing it was probably cranked on there sideways dragging like a mofo so not surprising. hopefully these couple little fixes will correct the front diff hitting shit. even with the looming banging and clanking i was getting pretty comfortable driving it just keeping it from making noise

Wish I could laugh and love a post. Great progress as always. Liked the humor as well:)
Glad you getting it sorted out. I want you to be able to enjoy some carefree miles in it finally. I think you're on the right track for that!

Idk the difference between the Yukon and avalanche but I replaced both high and low beam without taking my bumper off. I can't remember exactly what I did but it was kinda PITA. Still think it was easier than pulling the bumper. Hell, maybe I just replaced the low beam. The older I get, the worse my memory is. I know for a fact I've done the low and about 85% I did high beam because I was thinking I was finally gonna have to pull the bumper. Again, I could be wrong:(

Great. Now you’re down to just breaking headlights. Progress. :yaoface2:

I bet I know who the mother****** that didn’t tighten down those caliper bolts was. Better hope he didn’t forget any of the really important ones. ;)
They did qc on the important ones, just not brakes. Who needs those things anyway. It obviously got stopped...

The brakes have been bolted on.

Dropped the exhaust an lengthened it...and of course had the last bolt cross thread and **** the threads up on the turbo manifold. Didn't feel like taking 2 days to take it all back apart so I just nut and bolted it.
Sounds like there a huge exhaust leak now on that side...not 100% sure I tightened up the 4" to down pipe vband ...hoping that's what it is

Still makes some noises, is probably 75% better tho. Getting on it still sounds like something is jumping teeth in the transfer case or front diff. Or still not ruling out tire spin making noise I'm not use to

you don't have to take the bumper off
unbolt the top of the grill (all bolts)
remove the 2 upper bolts from headlights
reach in under each fender and loosen the lower 10mm bolt on each side
pull the top of the grill out forward some
pull out each headlight forward.
I have done it many many times
or in your case the 1 headlight
also if you do not have a 2nd battery or factory intake installed you can probably just reach in from the backside and change the bulb.

I have to keep that grille trick in mind. I can get to my headlight bulbs through the top bolts off only and on the d/s I have to remove the batt tray and loosen up the washer bottle to get in there. And remove the air cleaner box for the other side. Fjuck up my hands but I can do it. Forget the turn signal bulbs. That's when I got to pop the 10 mils loose from the sides. I've never had to remove the bumper or grille at all even replacing the housings. Just pop the inner fenders and bumper edges loose to get the the 10 mils. I have a 1/4" drive thumb ratchet to get to those ones.

well its probably the transfer case...pretty much what it was doing a few months ago and swapping the transfer case made it finally went away. was hoping it was the planetary gear that was trashed but apparently there was more to it....the other thing i noticed was the retaining ring that holds the whole assembly in the case was "loose" that is there was a lot of play in line with the shaft the groove in the case for the retaining ring was a little wallared out
just tired, dont feel like swapping the transfer case today. this also reminds me i have an entire rear case that came with the first rebuild kit i could try to set the assembly into and see if it feels tighter.

i did forget to tighten up one of the vbands also....so thats good.
