Another nearly freezing day today....so I didn't get much done.

Really just stupid fookin hot pipes would not go together. I test fit everything with everything loose and it was ok. But as I permanently put shit on and tightened it down I got to the down pipe, it would go on turbo but then couldnt get waste gate lined up and vice versa...messed with that for hours before I had waste gate on manifold and downpipe, turbo loose from manifold got turbo on downpipe, started to tighten turbo to manifold as I tightened vband to down pipe:banghead: was real close to cutting and rewelding the waste gate and prob will when/if it comes back off.

Ran oil feed, used oil galley plug behind ps pump (same procharger does).

rerouted maf and battery amp sensors, temporarily theyre just strung across the engine will clean up later but should be fine

Still to do this list didnt seem to long till i wrote it all out :nono::

Finish wires to starter and alternator, shorten accessory lead.

put driver, passenger, wideband o2 sensors in

oil drain, have a few different fittings - would like to weld a bung to oil pan but dont have anyway to weld aluminum (pan drop), grabbed a 1/2 npt drill/tap and fitting(possibly no pan drop), and also have just a bulk head style fitting that uses a nut on inside of pan (pan drop).

do something with tranny cooler - i did grab a few compression couplings and compression x npt to convert over to an hoses if needed just didnt do much with it today.

finish out exhaust, downpipe is just sitting below passenger floor pan, has a short piece of pipe of vband that i can turn it down dump style in the mean time.

turbo to intercooler pipe, its just two peices with silicone couplers, should take but a minute

turbo intake - same thing it's just an elbow and a filter - only take a few mins will probably just listen to that turbo sing before i put it on

coolant overflow tank - for now i can probably mount the stock one somewhere pretty secure and rock it.

plumb all the small hoses for wastegate/bov/boost controller - i grabbed a cheap one from turbosmart but it uses some small as hell hose size so i may send it back and get one with just 1/8npt ports, planned on using all push lock fittings and hose

tune, start, check for leaks, top off coolant

That’s only, like, an hour worth of work right? :893karatesmiley-thu

All i have is more pictures, I swear at some point i will start installing all of it!
I started out looking at gear swaps and was about to pull the trigger on 4.11s front/rear. With the 6L80 and 3.42s stock i thought it was a pretty good combo but slower than hell off the line. I think i found somewhere comparing the gear ratio it ended up being like driving a 4l60 with 4.56 gear.
I had been to 1/4mile track a few times and 60's were terrible 2.3-.4. i noticed similar trucks, even 5.3s that were cuttin 1.9-2.0s. I didnt realize it but the stock converter on mine only flashes at like 1600 rpm on the foot brake. So hopefully converter will help out, and way less $$ than the gears after install.
Not sure how we are about naming non forum sponsors but they were extremely helpful, responsive, and got it out to me quick. stall should be around 3k rpm
Along with the converter the LS3 intake valves arrived, I went back and forth about installing them for a while. Stock valves are big and weigh in the 110g range,LS3 valve around 90g, plenty of people say dont worry about it put on a good spring and let it roll. But i wanted to keep valvetrain nice and light to see how high Justin wants to tune the shifts :D.
The headgaskets that were sent with the DOD delete kit I dont really like. they look like a metal shim with two crush layers, they swear they've used them in all kinds of builds with no problem but meh...L92/LS3 would be plenty but since thickness is the same I ordered some LS9 gaskets since FI may be in the future.

do you happen to have the part number for the converter? do you notice much difference with it versus when it was stock?

The first converter? I put in same time I did the cam, headers, and tune. So, hard to tell how much difference just it made.
The 6.2 stalls low (under 2000rpm) and stock tune makes it even worse. With stock everything else 2500rpm would be good. I towed a few 5k trailers with it did fine.

I still have that one I need to send back to circle d actually, said they can refurb it or just give me a credit/partial refund just keep forgetting

didnt get much done, got home a little late but am happy all went well.

got the hot pipes where i feel a little better. loosened everything, wiggled downpipe back n forth, tightened vband to turbo, wiggle, tighten, wiggle, tighten etc a few times and got everything sucked together nicely. shit had me annoyed after yesterday - i was about ready to just cut the wastegate pipe off and reweld it.

anyway, put in the o2 sensors (driver/passenger/wideband) all the plugs reached, need to run harness for wideband but thats not really needed for starting up and running just tuning. tyrap'd up most of the loose wiring i had to move. finished crimping larger cables for started and alternator. it could start now but need to do oil drain and trans cooler.
