Sumo....what'd you use to plug up the holes?

well it was temporary. I have esky racks on it now. But what i do have are plastic inserts that fit in the hole nicely. WHen i Prep a new car at work, some of them come with those plastic inserts. They are there so debris dont get stuck in there and cause the threads to strip.

Where can I find those plastic inserts? Also, what size?

....You can't leave the holes unplugged or you'll get water in the headliner....

I would think that the headliner has some protection from an accidental loose bolt, etc?

Sounds good. Silicone was added to the holes in mine but maybe I'll add a second layer of protection if the above is true.

I'm going to say no. The bolts sandwich the rack's plastic parts to the roof, and the whole design of the way the rack mounts IS the protection against water getting in, I'd say. So, when you expose the nutserts, don't have plastic wedged against the openings, etc., then you at least invite water to get in. I'm not saying water WILL get in the headliner, but I've read about it here and on the TahoeForum. Better safe than sorry!

SW CT,
No rack here...used a nice door molding that has a similar profile as the ribs on the roof.

Do you have pics of the top of the roof so we can see it? :)

I went to Ace Hardware yesterday and bought 10 little plastic inserts and put them in. They are not flushed but close enough and should help prevent any water getting in. I removed my rack to do the mod gdddup did(bootleg esky rack) but liked the way it looked without the rack. I'm about 30% done with it so the other 70% will be done here and there until it's ready to be put back on.
