hi all.

wife got rear ended. (the other driver was at fault)
she's fine, but her car is not.
it is 2016 Mazda 6 and damage is mostly in rear bumper and maybe exhaust system (weird noise/vibration).
i was thinking to trade it for SUV or minivan, but now her Mazda is damaged.
should i get check for repair money then trade it without repairing it or should i drop it at body shop to repair it then trade it?

X2 had a Sebring, over the summer someone backed into it, took the $1200 check and then sold it for $1500.

I would probably just trade it and either sign the check over to the dealership or pocket it depending on what they offer on trade. Quickest route to the new vehicle you want. Might not be the best but definitely the quickest.

If the other driver was at fault, shouldn't it be their insurance's responsibility to pay for it?

*Nevermind. I think I misunderstood some things.

I second what Roger said about diminished value.
