$8K OUCH! See that Black 05 Yukon Denali to the left... I paid $2500 for it and drove it home. The frontend was shot and the Throttle Position Sensor was acting a fool. Around $500 later and she runs like a champ. I rebuilt the whole frontend bushings, tie rods, idler/pitman arms, ball joints and all. I might end up having to replace the steering gearbox if I cant adjsut the slack out of it.

Ouch is right. I paid $4K for my 02 XL 3/4 ton 2500 with an 8.1 motor. I've seen old skool motors with sludge like that but never the newer cars. Hope all your issues get sorted.

Did you just come here to put down his project? Literally everything you've said has been negative. It's like you have something against him and you don't want him to succeed. And you're trying to one up him saying you got a better ride for a cheaper price. Congratulations, i got my ride for $1500 and it only needed a battery and windshield

Damn, where do you guys find these cars for so cheap? In California where I live there is a thing called market value. It works off the concept of supply, and demand. If there is 10 tahoes, all between the price of X and Z, then fair value is somewhere around Y. If the tahoe that I bought didn't have the engine trouble, it would have been a good price for my area.
I didn't know we had a pissing contest going on for price paid. I once bought a near new .357 ruger GP100 for 250$. they were going for 900$. Am I accepted now because I got a good deal?

I was thinking the same thing, Rock Ola kinda seems like a giant *****. But hey, whatever gets you through the day.

Thanks everyone for all the tips, and ideas that helped me out on trying to bring this motor back to life, I do appreciate it!

That reminds me, i once bought a 78 cutlass for 75 bucks, found 50 under the back seat..... drove that ***** to bronx daily, parked wherever i wanted, didnt give a f about it..... granted it had no radio, and every day i had to fill up the power steering fluid, i used atf, cheaper and thicker so it lasted longer, if i wanted power steering.....on that particular day.....one time....long time ago....in my life..... once.....when i was young.... then..... yeah... i did..... true story.....

I bought mine when Gas was up around $4 a gallon, and no one wanted them.

a year later gas was ~$2 a gallon, and the trucks value had almost doubled.

The truck looks in solid shape, other than the sludge. These are well built, and it takes a bit more than a few years of misuse to kill em. I think you got a solid deal for your area, and hopefully a truck that will last you a decade. Keep up the good work!
