Yes it’s possible. Something else besides compression could have changed too that that POS mechanic didn’t say anything about. Plus like I said, Justin will look at your datalog and tell you why it’s not running right. He figured a couple things out for me just by looking at my data, one was an intermittent MAF issue that was causing issues and had me stumped. He suggested I replace it and bingo. I had no codes, and had installed a house brand MAF from Oreillys awhile back just as preventive maintenance. He saw something in my datalog that made him question the MAF, the data looked erratic. I bought an OEM one and no more problem.
Agree 100%. While I would say a generic tune between the SAME motor would work (though not be ideal), you want it tuned based on this motor and how it’s running.

1. There’s a MAF code, this will cause it to run sub-optimally
2. The installed “tune” is not for this motor, but for a similar motor. I’d say that can get you by until it’s tuned... but in the end, it needs a tune. BBP.....

its all speculation until someone can actually look at the tune.

but its as simple as just setting a self check to error outside of normal range

ie stock may say
maf fail above 10000hz
maf fail below 500hz

if you tell it to error above 100hz and below 10000hz its going to immediately fail, and you can uncheck the SES code for it

Mine (gen 4) would still read the maf but I physically removed the wire from the harness to fail it

ive heard its best to set the maf to fail at 1 or 0, my boosted ss camaro is sd "speed density" tuned or ve "volumetric efficiency" what ever you like to call it. my maf is set to fail at 1.

then the stock ve tables wont cut it with a cam. so those need to be tuned. really need a wideband to do that right.

@Tonyrodz id gladly lend you my hpt and laptop if you wanted to find a remote tuner. loaned it to my brother who had a remote tune done on his newest car. he used that guy james brewer https://www.joatspremium.com/store/p_1100760/remote-tune-w-tuner-rental it costs less and can be done way faster if you have a tuner on your end. no shipping of a rental unit.

hell if it came down to it im sure i could pull my wideband out my truck in like 20 minutes and have it rigged up in yours in even less time. this is my last week of work, so im free. till april lol

That deal is way better than mine! You really do need a wideband to get it to its optimum.
