Tow capacity

I’m sure this has been discussed here couldn’t find it though. Does anyone tow with their PPV vehicles? I have a 2014 has a tow hitch, plug and everything. And the trailer button on the column. I’m wonder how it is possible that the towing capacity is not at least 4000-5000 pounds. I’m looking to tow a camper somewhere between 2,900-3,500 pounds

You’ll be fine I’ve towed over 10,000 lbs multiple times with my Tahoe heaviest being around 15,000 lbs once with the dump trailer full of sod another time was car trailer with a k1500 Silverado on it towed both times for 3-6 hr or more!
It don’t like it and it was definitely straining the motor but your lil camper won’t be a issue I wouldn’t sweat it
