False premises abound. Everyday life has its risks and nobody is going to die if a valve spring breaks, gimme a break. It's also foolish to think that GM rolled the dice on bad valve springs, sales would plummet if folks thought these were unsafe and or unreliable vehicles. 6.2s have always been ******* their valve springs and in general one of them breaks on cylinder seven or eight at about 160K miles and eleven years of age. That's what I've seen on this forum anyway. Hundreds of thousands of people will never have a problem, only those that dog the motors and don't take care of them.

All the engineering and testing, thinking of how their customers will use their vehicles, nobody can think of everything but the customers sure do discover the weak points quickly, especially with these millennials coming of age and driving now!

Thanks for the information. The dealer just sent the build sheet. It was built June 30th 2020. AKA right smack dab in the middle of the bad valve spring era. We are going to take advantage of the Lemon Law in our state and turn it back into GM since it was already in the shop over 30 days. We were suppose to take it on a family trip to Florida but there is no way in hell I am going to roll the dice with a ticking time bomb in the engine. I am very pissed off with GM. They know they have a problem and instead of a recall they are only going to fix the engines that fail and leave their customers stranded and possibly in an unsafe situation when the engine dies. The 2021 Tahoe and Yukon already have 90 TSBs and multiple recalls!!!!! That is flat out pathetic!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure I fall into that category as well. I purchased mine way back in July. I continue to warn everyone I talk to on this forum and in person. Not worth the risk to buy one of these yet. GMC Customer Cares use to respond very quickly to my emails, not anymore. I guess the best course of action for GMC is to ghost their customers. Hoping they just go away. Well they got that right, we will just go away!

Looks like my engine was built on day 161 ( June 9th 2020 ) So it is safe to say I am driving around one of the affected engines. I am going to keep it garaged until I hear back from GM on the buy back or vehicle replacement early next week. I only have 945 miles on it since it spent a good chunk of it's life at the dealer for other issues. If I don't like their answer I will lawyer up since legal fees are covered under Michigan's lemon law. If GM forces me into that route I will seek additional damages including our family vacation that we just cancelled due to our vehicle being a ticking mechanical time bomb :(

You know exactly what I mean James....
If you and James don't think crap like this that GM is pulling does not affect brand reputation and resale value you are flat out wrong. When you dump 65k+ on a new vehicle and find out your engine is built with defective parts post up how that feels.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound. In the past 2 model years... 07-14’s and 15-20’s people have jumped on this forum, and others, who just purchased the first redesign of that model year and did the same exact thing you are doing now..... I can’t believe they did this, sales are going down, how could they, complain complain complain I started a class action lawsuit, I lemon lawed it, I filed a claim with OHSA, NTSB, AAMOCO and GOD, and you know what happened? NOTHING ... not. one. single. thing. As a matter of fact sales skyrocketed. Don’t take it personally, it is what is.. I don’t and wouldn’t buy the first model year of any vehicle manufacturer..... again it is what it is. I can guarantee that Joe Schmoe from Idaho bought the truck that was built right behind yours, he’ll keep it for 100k and not have a single problem. Such is life. Live and learn and move on.
Good luck to you and I hope GM takes ‘care’ of you.

Wow it really takes a special person to post up what you just wrote. SMH :( My parents always preached if you don't have anything nice to say keep it to yourself. I am going to go out on a limb you were not taught those values. If you want to keep a lemon and take it in the rear go for it. I will always stand up and utilize the protections given to me by law to hold big business accountable when they attempt to screw the little guy with their screw ups and piss poor products. Have a good day and feel free to ignore my posts in the future.

Use this link and type in VIN number and unless is just too new, it should all come up. Make sure when you put in the VIN, all letters are capital letters. It does not like lower case letters.
So where’s the link?
