Mine definitely a bit bumpy up front and I have the same KYBs. NEW bump stops, upper control arms, lower ball joints and fresh alignment. I noticed the shock mount on the lower arms is looking rough. Last year I replaced the lower ball joints as well so I may spring for new LCAs to resolve that. I figured the lower control arms bushings may need some attention ad well.Truck was pretty bouncy - so much so that my wife refuses to ride in it. I will admit, it was pretty rough, and I grew up driving 4th gen f-bodies.
Jounce bumpers are in good shape and making proper contact.
Front Bilstein 5100's were 6.5 years old and somewhere north of 50k miles. Can't find OE ZW7 shocks, discontinued and Delco unobtanium (Part# 540-182 - ACDelco, Part# 12477738 - GM). Got some KYB Excel-G twin-tube specified for ZW7 (341343). Put those on and went for a spin. Improved, but still a little jarring.
Took off the QA1 Panhard and put the OEM back on and it's back to how we knew it to ride. I think it just made the truck too rigid and with our crappy soil here, the roads aren't great due to settling/shifting - ask my foundation about it . Seemed that you'd hit a bump in the front and then when that was over, the rear hit it and bounced the front.
Beautiful indeed! Looks brand new!I bought all 4 bump stops.... ( One rear fell out).... I want to use my mechanic's lift to clean/ install them, sometime soon..... But until then, yesterday, I watched the INDY car race, in my garage, and, since the weather temperature is 'livable' now, in south Florida, I did my semi-annual exterior detail to my '05. Then put it to bed..... What an amazing truck.... 171,000 miles and still like new !!
From Rock Auto.... Rears are Dorman ' premium' ( # AB90660PR ). Fronts are ' Genuine GM' ( # 15153958 ). I am replacing the fronts, even though they look good, I consider the age of the weird material. ( All from Rock Auto )Beautiful indeed! Looks brand new!
Do you have a part number for the rear bump stops? One fell out from my 06 Suburban, but I'm not certain what those bump stops are called (jounce stop?) Surprisingly, my fronts look really good, almost new!
