#8 wire was a PITA, but I think #1 was the most difficult. Ended up breaking the temp sensor clip when I took it off to get at #1.

I completely agree - and I broke that same clip also.

So after the first day I use it after replacing the oil pan gasket I notice that there's some oil around the bottom of the pan, looks like I'll be ordering an oil pan and doing that job all over again.

No I decided to leave it. I could've bought it from the insurance company but I didn't. I had my mechanic look at it and the motor had no oil in it and the driveshaft was bent.
