I completely understand. My dad fell out his bed last July. Fortunately he was able to get his cell phone and call me for help as his legs weren’t strong enough for him to walk with out a walker, let alone get up off the floor on his own due to excessive swelling as a result congested heart failure. I was able to get his 300 lb butt back into bed by myself using pure adrenaline. He was bruised up pretty good, but had he hit his head or not been able to get to his cell phone, not sure what would have happened. Unfortunately, he was put into the hospital the next day for his heart condition and swelling and never came home again.
ya i'm gonna half to remember when I get that old that it may be easier to get out of a higher bed but probably not a good idea, bed rails, lol

My fat ass fell out of the bed overnight and hit the floor. Banged my elbow and back up and nose hit the nightstand on the way down so that was bleeding all over. Lots of fun.

Part came with this tech bulletin in the box.

Ouch! I wonder if that slugging issue also applies to those without the tensioner? I reckon it should since slugging is something that happens inside the compressor. Tom did something to his a few years back to prevent slugging, I remember him talking about taking it off. @gooffeyguy

being large aside, a leading cause of death is from "falling out of bed" especially as we age, get a bed that is lower to the floor is my advice.
Too low and I can't get up on my feet! Yeah, will probably get bed rails someday, going out like we came into this world!

Circumstances of Fall Deaths

ICD-10 codes were examined to clarify the circumstances of fall deaths. Of the 21,649 unintentional fall deaths that occurred in 2010, 35.3% occurred from falling on the same level (W00, W01, W18) and 6.5% from falling on or from stairs and steps (W10) (Table 1). An additional 4.4% of falls involved furniture (W06–W08), such as falling when transferring (e.g., from the bed to a chair) or falling off furniture (e.g., after standing on a chair). The circumstances for 49.1% of fall deaths were not specified (W19).

You know, as you guys recall those you lost I remember now all the people my wife knew who died from falls when she worked in old age industry. Way too many folks who really weren't ready for eternity yet. My greatest comfort comes in knowing, that by God's grace, if I'm absent from this old body, I'll be present with the Lord!

It is amazing how many people perish from something as simple as a fall. Before covid, someone dying in my wife's ICU was not very common. Maybe 1-2 a month or so. I remember when she first started working there, two separate cases of dudes being slightly intoxicated, go to the bathroom to drain the main vein, lose balance, hit their head on the tub or sink. Bam, dead (brain dead). It made me realize just how fragile life can be and Ive wondered about all the dumb shit I've done in my life and thank god for watching over me.
