Road Hazard Sunday, no it wasn't a stop sign this time!
this is why I have metal skid plates, however didn't help this time
apparently I hit several of these 1 entered the running board and went thru the body and out the wheel well, 1 punctured the running board and broke end off on the inside (now I have a reason to get aftermarket boards if I cant find a decent replacement. The 3rd must have stuck in the tire, punctured it and ripped the splash shield almost in half and then fell out.
I now have 2 souvenirs. luckily this happened 1/2 mile form the house I guess I hit them about 70mph, I heard it but didn't think I had been harpooned lol, when I pulled up to the house and looked I only saw the 1 piece sticking out at first, then I saw the 2nd one inside and the tire was whistling air so I jumped back in and ran down to the tire shop that is 1/2 mile away and open 7 days a week I bought the tires there so free road hazard repair. Looks like i'm in the market for a splash shield and running board. somehow managed to miss the rear a/c and coolant lines, glad I didn't hit them on the gas tank side that would have sucked major

Wow! Just Wow!

Glad it didn’t do any more serious damage than it did and appears to have missed the sheet metal on the vehicle.

Looks like some scrapper lost part of their load.

it was just my luck I was going from a single lane to where it splits into to two lanes, traffic was moving slow so I jumped in the right lane to pass and a guy in a pickup decided to cut me off so I moved over to the right more since there was another 15 feet of pavement to the right and these metal rods apparently were right there, I drive wherever there is a place to go and usually there is crap that gets kicked off the road.

this was was bizzare, not as bizzare as a chunk of headlight I apparently hit one time and managed to drag home, didn't see it till the next morning it left a good 5-6 inch rip in the middle of the tire should have took a picture of it but didn't think of it at the time

Sorry to see all that damage! Excuse to get some new stuff.

today i messed around with the steering shaft coming out of the firewall. Disconnected it and lubed the part that goes into the rubber boot. Got a weird noise when making turns like something was rubbing. Re-attached the shaft and started up the truck and got a stabilitrack light. Popped the hood again just to double check and didnt see anything, re-started the truck and no light. Weird. Next week i have to bleed the PS and do a drain and fill on the coolant.

Well my front end noise is back. I’m not sure at all where its coming from. Im going to jack it up and see what the deal is for myself next weekend.

Unrelated: i’m gonna try and pull the center vent trim off without breaking anything, and see if I can 3D model and then 3D print a non adjusting middle drivers side vent that will replace the stock one, but house a standard pod gauge. I want to install a wideband.

question for the class is- where do ya’ll run wires out of the cab? Is there a super eazy spot to get to like for sub wires? My biggest fear is water getting into the cab so i’ll probably slather everything in rtv...

Expensive little bastard. I been looking one for a long time. Because mine just absolutely sucks in the daytime to try and see the readout. Been really afraid to pull the trigger on a used one. One guy had a nice one for sale here and I replied and got ignored.

So I got this unit off of Autozone website. 25% off. Even though I brought the $200 core in, they still whacked my ***** credit card for the deposit, even though my signed receipt said $191.13, and sent me an email saying "A credit for $212.00 has been applied to your VISA ending in ****.

Note: The funds will be released to you according to your financial institution’s procedures and may take up to 10 days to appear on your statement"

**** YOU!!!!

Anyway pics:

For just 1 gauge, I'd look for something like this instead of going through all that trouble.....
