What made you go with an SUV over a Truck?

wondering what other people have come up with to choose a GM SUV over a truck.

For me it was because I've wanted a black on black Tahoe since high school. Stupid reason, but it's my money so it is what it is.
A few years after I got out of high school I had the money for for a Tahoe and went that way. Then a few years later after it was paid off I purchased a truck. So I've got the best of both worlds. Plus I really didn't need a truck for anything and didn't have much of an interest in them when I purchased the Tahoe.

I very rarely haul things that call for an open bed. A large SUV makes life easier for the occasions when I need to carry more people and/or gear.

I recently rode this mental roller coaster. I fell in love with an '07 crew cab Sierra and it prompted me to sell my 13+ year project S10. The Sierra sold that same day it was posted for sale, but I kept looking since I had already decided to sell the S10. During my search, I found that the Tahoe and Yukons were about the same price as the trucks but usually cheaper. I needed and wanted the interior space of a 4-door and I was digging the additional space of the SUVs. I especially liked the rear captain's seats option since my fiance that recently moved in with me has two girls- 7 and 13. Also, the turning radius and ride quality of the SUVs is better. I rarely haul anything that requires a truck bed and for those times, I have two different trailer. I have a bad back, so not having to hoist things up to a truck bed's level is safer for me. Another personal benefit is that the SUV is something like 33" shorter than the crew cab truck. This maintains the walking space between the back of the Tahoe and my lawnmower and even allows room to open the rear hatch. Finally, I wanted something different than what occupies most driveways around me. There are a lot of sportsmen here and they all have trucks. Most even have the same mods- leveling and/or lift kit, aggressive all-terrains, Costa/Yeti/LSU stickers, etc. I don't hunt, don't care to advertise for a brand of sunglasses or ice chest, nor follow sports teams. So, an SUV that will be mildly lowered on street tires fits me.

With an suv i might not have as much hauling capacity as a pickup but i can haul anything that fits back there in any weather without concern. Plus when having extra passengers its more comfortable in the back than an extended cab truck.

Just sold my Raptor to get into a 2016 Yukon XL. What made me? A wife, three kids and a Golden Retriever who all want to be comfy when we travel and/or tow boat. It's a smooth ride and I can't complain (except that XM != Sirius no matter what GM tells you - reception SUCKS). Raptor will forever be the best vehicle I ever owned, though...

The 99 Yukon I got was super clean and the price was right. I wanted a 96-98 Silverado X-cab Z71, but I could not find one that clean and not beaten to death.

I bought this to replace my static slammed 87 RCSB S10 that I had for 10 years. My son starts school this year and needed something for the winter/towing since my Colorado is a cruiser/toy/summer daily

Now I have found my Yukon runs great but has most of the normal GMT400 issues. I'm slowly working on correcting those with each paycheck and free time
