I still don't understand why people pay for OnStar. It doesn't do much more then a cell phone and often doesn't work. Don't have it on my 2023 Burbank but think I will wait to have the update done.

For what it’s worth, I asked my dealer if they had any reported issues with any vehicles that got this update at their facility. They said no. Service advisor said that they had flashed hundreds of vehicles without any issues. So that’s why I decided to risk it for the biscuit. Came out just fine on the other end. Everything works.

My trusted longtime service advisor at a very large GMC dealership told me they have done well over a thousand vehicles for this latest update and have only had two bricked vehicles which were back on the road and fixed the next day. He advises all his customers to leave the car overnight "just in case" something happens.

I think this thread is a classic example of "no news is good news". I'm pretty sure 99.9% of these get done without a hitch. But nobody is going to go out of their to way make a thread or post about a software flash was done correctly. That's already the expectation. It's those who end up having problems that'll share their story.

Well, you're one of the lucky ones. Mine was done about a month ago. My dealer told me in addition to mine they bricked about a dozen yukons, canyons, and sierras. In addition the modules were backordered with no eta. When they took mine back the new module was doa...strike 2. Finally got it fixed Saturday. Hopefully by now they've modified the procedure to avoid this.

Speaking of software, my lock mechanism is working out of character. It still locks the vehicle automatically 10 seconds after I've left, but anything having to do with me opening the vehicle with my key fob on my person is a no starter. No popping either part of the liftgate or pushing the door button to open the driver or passenger doors. I have to click the unlock button on the key fob now. I wonder if a low battery is causing that malfunction, or if it's a software issue. What do you guys think? ...This just started happening towards the middle of last week.

UPDATE: Took it to the dealership on Friday, and they fixed the software update/recall. As for the other issues I've been having, it turned out that the vehicle settings reverted back to a reset. The service person showed me the issue, and also taught me a number of things about my vehicle I never knew - including the reverse mirrors that tilt downward so that you don't hit the curb. That's brilliant, considering my wide rims. There were a few other features that were turned off, but I feel like an idiot for not going into my settings menu to check that stuff out.

I had both the brake fluid level detection recall as well as another recall for the serial gateway module done without drama on Thursday.

Took my 22 Yukon in yesterday at 7am for the latest update and got it back at 11am. So far no issues, nothing has changed all my phone contacts, trailer info etc was retained. Don't know what all it "fixed" as I don't see anything different, of course my Yukon was fine before I took it in with no issues.
