On post #11 you can see how I cut the rubber hose and then used a 3/8th's brass bard fitting to connect the rubber hoses. There are better ways of doing this, it's just the route I took.
It won't. You can only pump out what's in the pan. Of course you don't want to run the pump for a length of time with out any ATF in the pan. There is still plenty of ATF in the torque converter that needs to come out, which is all 16 quarts.
I pump out 4 quarts, put in 4 quarts. Repeat...
If I were you just take it to the stealership and have them replace the filter and top off. Then use the method described above to replace ALL the ATF in the system. Then add on an external transmission filter so you don't have to go through all this hassle again. Worked for me.
The reason I...
Yes, that is the adapter I used on this truck. The bracket is just a heavy duty L bracket I found in the roofing department in Home Depot. The filter, most important part is from Napa p/n 1269. You will be glad you're doing this. Will save money and time.

If you go back and read my posts, I listed parts needed there. Yes, NAPA has all the parts you need. I use a NAPA filter 1269 for hydraulic systems. It can filter down to 10 microns which is about 100 times better than the internal filter. So, change this filter a couple times a year and your...
I have been using this method for years and never had a problem. I also think it's the best. May want to add on an external filter so you no longer need to drop the pan and change the internal filter and make a mess doing so. It also aids in pumping out all the old ATF in the torque converter...
This setup is working great. Although I installed this filter at about 118k IIRC, and now have about 128k on it. The fluid was black and nasty and I'm sure the PO never changed the fllter of ATF. I pumped out all the old ATF in the system then added the filter. After 10k miles, the fluid looks...
First off start the engine and allow it to get fully warmed up. Then check the ATF level. Engine must be running and in park. This will tell you if you have too much or not enough ATF in the system. But, it sounds like the fluid level is low. If too much we can go from there to get some removed...
Taking it to a shop is the worst thing to do. The flush machines they use are ok IF the transmission has been flushed on a regular basis. The problem becomes apparent when you have a transmission that has not had the service done regularly and the process removes the particulate matter from the...
Synthetics only find leaks that are already there. Being they are made of uniformed molecules they are able to exploit weak spots in the gasket materials. This can happen with an engine that has 10 miles on it or even 100 thousand miles. So that part does not matter. I have several vehicles with...
Sounds like the filter and ALL of the fluid in the system needs to be replaced. Remember dropping the pan only accounts for about 1/4 of the fluid that the system holds.
Okay, thanks for the info. The Mobile 1 LS is plentiful and cheap. $7.99 so I'll use that. Still need to know what you guys use to seal the diff cover up with? Is there a gasket or just use some RTV?
This is what I'm finding now. Proplem is I can't seem to find any lube that does not have any FM in it other than Amsoil, which is a pain in the butt to get. Really hate to spend the $$$ for the GM grape juice stuff. What do you use? Thanks

So I want to change the differential fluid in my 04. I have a partial print out of what it has. It states it has the G80 positraction limited slip diff with the GT4 3.73 gears. So I'd need to know do I add a friction modifier to the fluid? Or is their a brand I should use? I'm reading some say...
Fixed it, disconnected the battery for a few minutes. Reconnected and light went off. Now its back working like it should. Still can't figure out why it came on without pressing the tow button. Oh well.
YES, you should replace the internal filter and do a fluid exchange. I bought mine with 118k and the fluid was black, you could tell the PO never touched it before. I added on an external filter so I no longer need to crawl underneath to drop the pan and change the internal filter. This method...
