Coppery shiny particles in engine oil?

Of course. I would NOT sell w/o telling the buyer. If I give a surprise to the buyer like that I may even find a bigger suprise later one day with the buyer standing in front of my door with a shotgun in his hand! A good news is that (I just remembered) I still have 25000 miles/2.5 years...

Coppery shiny particles in engine oil?

No, the engine doesn't make any noise or act anything unusal. I've done lots of engine oil change on lots of different types of vehicles like boats, quads, bikes, even on my Bobcat tractor but this was the first time I ever saw that kind and that amount of shiny fine metal particles. It's so...

Coppery shiny particles in engine oil?

'03 6.0L Escalade with 80,000 miles. I just did oil change yesterday and I noticed some coppery color shiny particles (very fine powder like), on the bottom of the drain bucket as I was pouring old oil into anther jug. I would say about a 1/4 teaspoonful of them. Maybe some bearing material...

Code P0410, Air Injection System failure?

I don't have that problem but I know that it is an Emission system related problem like you said. Fresh air is pumped/mixed into the exhaust system in an attempt to burn up any unburned fuel that may remain in the exhaust gas. But I don't know exaxctly where to look for on this engine. In...

    Transmission Service ?

+1 Piston slaps don't go away in 2 seconds. I hear the same noise from my '03 6.0L with 75K miles, and I verified it's coming from the starter area. In my case, the noise is less than 2 seconds, more like 1 or 1.5 to be exact. Some kind of engaagement or disengagement problem between...

    Check engine light on/off-on/off

Left bank too lean.... That exact same code pops up once in a while and clears itself after some driving on my 97 VW Golf as well. I thought there was a leak in the intake system but possibly the O2 sensor... hmm.

    Dropping Transmission Pan

I was never able to remove the either bolt. The rear one was easy to reach but it was so tight and I stripped the bolt head:emotions122: And I couldn't even place the socket on the the front one, too many other things around it.

    Dropping Transmission Pan

Yes, that's what I was thinking as well. Bending the bracket a bit would be a good idea. For less messy work, I was ablt to suck out the remaining fluid in the pan using a pump once all the bolts are removed and the pan is halfway dropped and slanted forward a bit. Even after all the fluid is...

    Dropping Transmission Pan

Do you really have to remove the gear selector cable bracket to drop the trans pan? I looked up and it looks like the pan could slide forward and clear the bracket, but I am not sure I've never done on this truck. If you've done one, please let me know. Thanks.

Sounds like wiring broke and shorting out. Will have to trace the horn wire at or near the steering wheel.

    U-joints

When I installed a new U-Joint on my farm tractor's PTO driven equipement, there was ZERO play. I think it would be the same for car/truck u-joint.

    U-joints

One day I was in a car with talking to a guy who works in a driveline shop where they repair/rebuild driveshaft U-Joints and such. I asked him how often should one rebuild the U-Joints and he said: If you are towing often, every 25K miles. If you are not towing, every 50K miles. To me, that...

    Transmissiong Oil Change

I am planning to do the fluid change only (not the filter) by opening the drain plug at the bottom on the trans pan this evening. Does anyone know the volume the stock trans oil pan holds? I want to pick up some A/T fluid on the way home and want to how many qts I need to get. I checked...

    Have a question....

For that kind of mudding, you really need to go for manual 4x4 setup. Another drawback on AWD that I hear is that, because it is viscous coupling at the center transfer case which slips even during normal operation, the temp can get really hot and it can cause problem just like in automatic...

    Have a question....

The Esc is my 2nd AWD SUV (Honda Element is my first AWD) after owning a 4x4 truck before. As I understand AWD vehicle drives normally in 2WD and it automatically engages to AWD "only" when traction control system detects different wheel speeds between front and rear via viscous coupling system...

Oil gauge pegged, acting crazy, low pressure? Some advise for ya'

Hey Grocery Getter, I have my oil guage is pegged all the way to 80 psi when engine is running and it comes back to zero when engine is shut off. So, I knew it was the sender unit and I just got a new one in my hand. I think I can feel the sender unit at the rear top of the engine with my...

    '03 Rear Diff Drain?

How do I drain the rear diff oil? I can't seem to find the drain plug anywhere. I did find what it appears to be a fill plug on the right/front side of the rear diff case. Both the center transfer case (since AWD) and the front diff case do have TWO plugs, drain & fill. But not the rear...

    Swiss cheese mod/ state inspection

More air "alone" would not make more power. You have to have more fuel as well to make more power.

    no oil pressure :(

Whenever something goes wrong, I always think "what was done the last time?". So, maybe something has to do with the new oil pump and chain? Another possibility is the oil pressure relief valve that might have fallen off - then the pressure would not build up because all the pumped up oil...

    Oil Gauge Reading 80 PSI?

That's a good tip! So, which side of the engine block is the oil pressure switch located as you are sitting on the driver seat, left or right?

    fuel problem. maybe?

To find the right culprit and not to waste time/$ on wrong parts, you really need to hook up ODB reader to see what error code(s) are stored in the ECU. See if you can borrow one.

    Spark Plug Change for 6.0L

I want to change spark plugs on my newly acquired '03 Escalade. Has anyone experienced better performance by using different brand plugs than OEM's AC Delco? Any difficulty or trick when replacing plugs on the 6.0L, or is it pretty much straight forward?
