Getting the same amount of volume (6 qt that you put in) when doing oil change does NOT always mean your engine is not losing oil or there is no problem. I do lab test on used engine oil for my customers and I see any where from 5% to 15% fuel contamination on used engines. Fleet truck...
I briefly read their website and it sounds like their speicalty is "custom tuning" which makes much more specific and efficient than the generics.
Are they recalibriating the existing factory ECU or their own new ECU? Also, if I take my truck to their shop in San Diego (about 2 hrs away from...
Does anyone have any feedback on those things on your 6.0L Vortec?
I had a REALLY good experience with SuperChips programmer that I used on my Dodge truck with 4.7L. MPG shot up from 17 to 20 MPG on hwy, and the low end torque improved noticeably. But before I shall out another $340 for my...
Sounds like wheel bearing gone bad to me. I had the same symptom/noise and it was shot front left wheel bearings. Don't drive like that too long if that's the case. It can damage wheel hub and will cost more than just $20 bearing.
Too late! I already got it. I only drive in weekends and ride a bike to commute. So far, my dash computer shows only 12 MPG in city. I don''t know how accurate that is though. I expected low MPG....
Good job finding the post!
It sounds like finding a special tool to remove the switch might be the biggest hassle. The guy (GM mechanic) says, with the special tool, he can do it in 15 minutes.
How much did the part cost you?
P/N ?
I have verified but I was told the switch would be right side of the engine block toward the firewall as you are sitting in the car. It wold be pretty obvious since you have the replacement!
Show us some pics if you find it.
Thanks!
My owner's manual says 6 qts. When the "check oil" msg came up, where was the oil level at on your engine oil dip stick?
If engine is really using oil and you don't a leak, then it must be buring oil.
I would not change parts unless they show some kind of sign before the failure. There are too many parts that can go wrong but don't know when.
One thing a lot of people neglecting is the "U-Joiints" on the propelller drive shaft that connects between the trans bell housing and the rear diff...
That's the clue right there.
When you first start up everything is cold, including trans oil. Next time when it happens, watch your rpm and the speed reading. Your rpm is probably higher than what it should be at that speed. The tranny is not shifting up and keeps the engine rpm high until...
I tried search MPG in the titles but came up with nothing.
I just bought an 2003 Escalade AWD with 6.0L.
What kind of MPG figure are you guys getting, City, Hwy, Average?
Is the dash meter MPG computer accurate?
In oder of the most probable culprit to the least...
1. Sending Unit
2. Stepper motor
3. Wiring
The reason for above order is because if I just turn on the ignition on, the oil pressure gauge does not peg out even though the stepper motor is energized. It peggs out only if the engine is...
I just bought an used 2003 Escalade and the oil pressure gauge is pegged all the way to the right showing 80 psi whenever engine is running, and it goes to zero when engine is shut off.
I saw a similar posting else where but the OP never posted how he fixed the problem. People were saying...
