I’m looking into getting a “Range”. Eddie I’m not great with cars and trucks. But have you had or heard of any using the device and hurting the engine or transmission?

Thank you.

Ken
A range device will have no negative impact on the engine or transmission. It only flips the AFM bit to off.

That said, if you have emissions testing in your area you’ll want to unplug it a few days before a test to give the monitors time to reset.

With a stock exhaust you cannot really tell that it’s in v4 mode. At least I wasn’t able to.

The Range AFM device does exactly what is advertised, if it is something you want to disable permanently I would look into going with a tune.

When I had a rental a couple years ago, I heard it loud and clear every time it went into V4. It only took a few starts, for me to remember to use M5 every time I put it in gear.

I’m going to look into the range. What do you mean by “Tune”? What other options are there in getting rid of the AFM?

Currently, the Range website says they will not ship to california, although it is undergoing carb testing.. Doesn't seem right, anyone out here who has deleted AFM, I'm not sure what they're supposed to do.

Reprogram the vehicle computers with a device using the OBD 2 port. You can modify engine and transmission computer parameters like idle RPM, disabling AFM, and when the transmission shifts with a tune. Black Bear offers a tuning service if you dont want to DIY it

Thank you. However I’ve never used anything like this before and although I’m sure it works. I’m guess it can be done wrong as well. I’ll read more into it.

Thank you.

Thank you, we appreciate that!
I still need to get my final tune from y’all. It’s a PITA to data log with my aftermarket head unit and remote start. I’ll also be doing a TBSS / NNBS intake upgrade, so will probably just wait until that’s installed, before getting another data log.
