I'm seeing prices from 13000 to 20000 for 14 year old Tahoes. I got my 02 about 5 years ago when it was 14 years old, and the going rate was about $6-8000. When did they start skyrocketing in price? At this rate I won't be able to afford to replace mine even if I wanted.

(These are Canadian prices, BTW)

Right after the Wuhan Flu used car prices started to climb.

Nobody wants to ride public transportation any more.

New cars in short supply because of supply chain problems and plant slowdowns or closures.

Money printers went Brrrrrr.

I paid 12k USD at the end of 2020. And that’s for a vehicle far from premium trim or condition.

That's probably what i would have paid for my 09 if i bought it from a dealer back in August of 2020.

When looking, i did find an 07, red, with sunroof for something like 11k.
Sunroof was a want, but not a deal breaker.

Since a dealer, i can expect another 2k on top of the price. :emotions34:
(I hate dealers :deal: )

There was also a black 07 w/o a sunroof, but it had the LTZ package.
(for sale by owner vs dealer like mine was)
Back then, i had no idea that it probably had the 6.2. :fc5716bd:

But all in, I really wanted the 6 speed vs the 4 speed.

Also, this comment made me laugh once i figured out what you were saying
Money printers went Brrrrrr.

first "brrrrr" i bought one of these.
https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/archive-model-sw500
(6.5in half lug)

Sad, looks like they don't make that model any longer.
I tried every barrel option, that one by far was my favorite.
It handled like the 4in model, but has the longer sight radius due to the lightened barrel.

It was a little hard to find... :D

It is very cheap to borrow money and the down payment is coming from helicopters above...

Asset prices of all kinds have skyrocketed, stocks - up, land - up, houses - up, copper - up....

You get the idea.

It won't end well, but nobody cares, it feels so good....

@Just Fishing I'm afraid we may be causing some pain for our northern thread host. Bad enough our Canadian friends have to deal with the exchange rate. Now the cat’s out of the bag that we’re buying noisemakers with government money.

Only in ‘Murica! :favorites37:

@Larryjb I do apologize for any unseemly revelry in my posts. Whenever the border opens up I’ll bring some USD across and buy you guys a round. In all seriousness, we DO love to spend summers up there. Can’t wait to visit again.

That’s what I keep running into high mileage and far from perfect.

Hey i'm in, I for one like Canadian beer!

I also enjoyed Russian beer when i was in N Europe. :D

And i really wanted a newer more blacker pew with my Biden bucks, but it turned into a newer more bigger engine for the hoe.
damn priorities. :(

:fishing1:

and i have done my fair share of good deeds for my brothers up north.
I think my biggest one was to help a guy buy a boat down here, package it up and get it ready for export to Canada for him.
My payment was a little gas money, and the engine off the back of that boat that was impossible to get parts for in Canada...

The Guy was an artist restoring those aluminum gems.
Still to this day I'm kicking my self for not just buying that boat for my self.
It would have been a Massive upgrade to the boat i have now.
He kept asking me "you sure you don't want it??!"

:D
