That RCSB looks sick.
Hows the budget going?
I'm also planning on an LS swap, though I'm not in any rush.
What are your plans for the motor? You going to go through it and make sure everything is good?

You stuck on a LQ9?
You think about going with a 5.3? The extra coin you save compared to a LQ9 you can put into more of a performance tune up.

I'm searching for another 5.3. When I bought my aluminum 5.3 short block and 317 heads, I didnt really think about the accessories and everything bolted on. Now I'm looking for another complete pull for basically the entire motor less block and internals. I figure I can sell them and make some money back. Thankfully they are a dime a dozen on Ebay, found one for $500 shipped.

I'm not stuck on it, I just like the idea of it ha. I wouldn't mind doing a 5.3L motor and I know my built 4L60e could take a 5.3L but what are we talking about for performance mods? I just thought the 6.0L was a better starting point. But yeah if I could get the motor for $500.00 and then throw some goodies on it that would be pretty sweet. Fill me in on what you'd do.

Any LS based motor is a good starting point, hah. You should look around for some 5.3 and see what you come up with.

As for me and my plans. Honestly I dont know what I'm going to do. The aluminum 5.3 I have is in great condition. I'm hopefully going to tear it down in the next few weeks and bring it to the machine shop for a final inspection and at least a deck and hone. Once all thats out of the way, we will go over my options. Though I'm more inclined to stroke it than bore it (hah). That would be the only downfall to the aluminum blocks, you can only go so far with a bore then you are talking about re-sleeving. I'd rather deal with clearancing than having thin walls, so a stroke will more than likely happen.
For the internals, that will also be discussed after the machining process.
Sorry for blabbing :)
I have been doing so much research, I want to it right the first time and only do it once, at least for the short block. Once thats done everything else just bolts on.
let me know if I can help, if I cant I know a bunch of people who are more than capable.
Later

After looking for a couple days now.. I will most likely do a 5.3L I can find MUCH more complete motors with less then 100k miles from anywhere $700-1200 so much more reasonable then a 6.0L and much more abundance.

A guy here in NY is selling BN in crate 6.0L for 3k. Been on the forums for months...if you would like I would find the ad and put you two in contact.

Junk the 4l60e...an 80e would do you better. Honestly...while the motor is out and free to go...just replace all the gaskets for peace of mind AND it is the best time EVER to upgrade the cam and heads...I am sooo kicking myself in the balls for not doing mine and a timing chain!

Welcome back! Can't believe how sick the pick-up turned out!

Does the brand new in crate 6.0L have accessories?! I'm getting the funds to do this TODAY so shit needs to start moving along. Less then 2 weeks till the lift/axles get swapped. Thanks man! Yeah the pick up did turn out sweet! First truck I've really "redone" more of just a learning process ha still a sweet little truck though, just like the tahoe better for a dd. Pickup makes for a great work truck though!

Went to the junkyard today, found a blue 96+ tahoe dash 8 outta 10 entire dash for $30 pulled the ***** in 2 hours!!!
Gonna have it dyed tan, decided against NBS dash as I've figured its a HUGE pain in the ass after further research, not the dash but doing the gauges. Its easier to just use the OBS gauges. And since I'll have a mint ass dash I'll have nothing to ***** about, no Double din this time around, they never turn out as I wish and I'd rather just have a really good looking stock dash and I'm gonna work in the NBS 2002 tahoe center console I have. The reason for all this being such a huge deal is because the tahoes dash in not just the bezel but the whole upper part of the dash is DESTROYED including the area where the radio/HVAC and everything else goes its unusable so its been holding me back from having a usable truck. So plan is, theres $25.00 BRAND NEW OEM chevy dash bezels for sale locally on craigslist gonna get one of those and gonna do a new HVAC as I don't feel like looking for one that works right, also planning on just doing a nicer single din alpine deck for my radio.
