Any LS based motor is a good starting point, hah. You should look around for some 5.3 and see what you come up with.
As for me and my plans. Honestly I dont know what I'm going to do. The aluminum 5.3 I have is in great condition. I'm hopefully going to tear it down in the next few weeks and bring it to the machine shop for a final inspection and at least a deck and hone. Once all thats out of the way, we will go over my options. Though I'm more inclined to stroke it than bore it (hah). That would be the only downfall to the aluminum blocks, you can only go so far with a bore then you are talking about re-sleeving. I'd rather deal with clearancing than having thin walls, so a stroke will more than likely happen.
For the internals, that will also be discussed after the machining process.
Sorry for blabbing
I have been doing so much research, I want to it right the first time and only do it once, at least for the short block. Once thats done everything else just bolts on.
let me know if I can help, if I cant I know a bunch of people who are more than capable.
